Cameleoline Cloaks v. IR Goggles

By Wayfinder, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

Do Cameleoline Cloaks offer concealment from IR Goggles?

To my way of thinking, they probably don't based on their descriptions. If you've ever seen IR systems work, clothing will not conceal you because you emit heat, which translates as infrared radiation that is detected by the IR system which translates that into imagery.

Nope. Cameleoline Cloaks offer bonuses versus visual detection only.

Yup yup, visual only, like Lasers said. Of course; and this is just overkill, Synskin and a Chameleoline Cloak can seem a little borked. Most people I've heard will rule the outer cloak's +20 concealment will supercede, and not add to, the +10 from the Synskin. Helps balance a touch. It's how our assassin was geared up until we got pooched into Tattered Fates.

Check the preysense masking armor upgrade or the masked bodyglove listings...Those are specifically designed to deal with/counter IR systems granting a +20 to Concealment tests when opposed by IR sensors or creatures whose sight is based on heat. Both of which BTW appear in the Radicals Handbook pg154 for full descriptions. As well as the Night cloak of RT ( corebook pg 140 ) which offers concealment bonus of +30 (but this item is not without its drawbacks ). The Synskin description in RT AND DH state that it renders the user/wearer invisible to the effects of IR goggles and dark sight in ADDITION to the +10 concealment and silent move checks
