Can Ved (Tie Advance 2.0 pilot) forward zero stop?

The trouble with Juno is the trouble with every pilot and upgrade that lets your reactively flex your dial: if you git gud, you don't need them. Pick the right move to start off with, and you've got a blank pilot ability, congrats.

But Ved/Juno's ability isnt just a reactive one - it's also about adding a bunch of moves to the dial that aren't there. In 1st edition, that's adding white 1 turns, a green 1 forward, and a red 3 and 5 K that aren't already on the dial, and turning your 2 banks and 4 forward green. In 2nd edition, you get the added white 1 turns, the red 3 and 5 Ks, and 2 T-rolls, and turn the 1 and 4 forwards and the 3 banks green.

In both cases that's a marked improvement to the base dial, and you still get to reactively adjust to potential blocks or avoid overshooting your target as well. Seems pretty good to me - just maybe not as good as Vader. ?

Yep, Juno Eclipse was so amazing… that I never saw her in any casual or competitive event EVER.

In Juno's case, she does have the advantage that she lets you do manoeuvres that aren't on your dial. Pulling a speed 1 turn in a TIE/x1, for example.

Juno wasn’t seen in 1.0 because she was a bad pilot - she wasn’t seen because Vader cost 1 point more and was significantly better. 2.0 has the opportunity to separate them a bit more and give the people options for pilot use.

Well we all thought Juno Eclipse was amazing. Get used to disappointment.

FAIR point. However, in the twilight days of 1.0, any pilot ability that doesn't increase your damage output to crazy levels or let you take a nuke to the chin is tossed aside.

This guy seems like a TIE advanced version of Ryaad. That isn't a bad thing.

You never saw Juno in 1.e because she was RIGHT under Vader in cost and not even remotely as good.

The TIE Adv in 1.e was a horrible, horrible ship. Bad dial, lousy attack, expensive, and only 2 shields so not really that durable either.

Juno fixed the dial, she not only allowed you to mindgame your opponent since that 2bank could be a 1bank or 3bank but it gave her maneuvers the ship didnt normally have AND extended her green maneuvers. That 2bank green is immensely important for a TIE Adv, Vader only got away without it because he generally didnt get stressed due to his ability unless he got stress-attacked, but even then his ability often got him out of the bind anyway with the limited greens he had.

The 2.0 TIE Adv is significantly better on paper. If its priced properly (this thing better be cheaper than a T65, other than its 3agi vs 2agi its inferior in every way but not bad either) you'll see this...Juno imposter quite often. Especially since the rumor is Vader is going to be noticeably more expensive than the other pilots instead of 1-2 points

This is fun let’s sum up my current thoughts:

  1. TIE Advanced 1.0 was decent overall, post TIE/x1 title. Certainly the PS4s with (free) Accuracy Corrector were good in Epic and Vader has remained reasonably competitive throughout the 14 waves. But decent doesn’t cut the 1.0 meta.
  2. Juno Eclipse was a mostly dud, competitively
  3. Juno Eclipse could be fun to fly, casually (I particularly liked her with Cruise Missiles)
  4. Darth Vader was a much better option - no matter what combo, two actions combined with ATC and PS9 with an EPT which didn’t need to be PTL, made that extra 1 point a bargain. A Krennic/Juno combo is pitiful next to a Krennic/Vader/Juke combo, for example.
  5. Ved Foslo on the other hand could be a much more viable option and if the price isn’t right they can reduce it further, and Force users like Vader are going to pay for their skills, however...
  6. All Ved is gaining over Juno are speed 2 and 3 Talon rolls and blue speed 3 banks (which Juno could get with TIE MkII).
  7. Ved’s initiative is middling at 4 compared to Juno’s PS8. I believe, however, this could be compensated for by taking a lot of I4 ships to make sure at least that he moves after all the other I4 ships?
  8. So Ved is going to have to be much cheaper then Juno to stand a chance
  9. Both Juno and Ved are minor inconsequential characters whether canon or not. Unlike Phasma. ?

So when does this ability actually get used? According to the rules they gave us a few weeks ago, there are 4 steps to execute a maneuver.

This guy goes somewhere in there.

Now I wanna run a list with Turr, Ryad and Ved.

All IN 4, all movement related abilities. I likes it. Probably more fun than competitive, but still.

I reminds me of my Backdraft, Kestal and Vynder build, which was also very fun in 1.0

Wait for the rules ref, it will probably say, but at a guess, it's triggered by dial reveal, and interjects between then and selecting your template..

dial reveal, the same juno's was.

Theres no reason to change it as putting it at any point further down the order of things would cause headaches.

Why not just say that, then?
