Clone Wars era belongs here

By TheEldarGuy, in Star Wars: Legion

The Clone Wars era kit is rightly suited for Legion. If they do bring the Clone Wars into FFG miniature games, I'd much prefer to see it here in Legion.

This is battlefield worthy. Then we can really have a tabletop miniature wargame - Clones vs Empire, Droids vs Rebs, or any combination thereof.

OK, not so much the Warhammer Paper-Rock-Scissors system, but the Jedi generals of the Clone Wars will seriously kick it!

I know folk were talking Clone Wars in Skirmish, I just don't think it belongs there.

In my mind this makes the most sense for expansion armies.

In the event FFG does make more actual factions, the Clone Wars armies make much more sense than a scum faction would. Fantasy Flight does seem leery of the material, generally. I can't think of Imperial Assault having any content from it except the Nexu, and none in X-Wing except the ARC 170. The Venator would be cool in Armada. But their history with all three games is they've gone to the non-canon expanded universe and even made up their own material before drawing from the Clone Wars era.

Ironically, your choice of example for X Wing is backward ?

They presented the ARC as something old refittedfor the GC era, however, have included direct clone wars things elsewhere in Cad Bane and Assaj Ventriss ?

scum faction or I'm probably out after the year. I don't see anything that tempts me to play. I'd rather scale back, sell off my nicely painted models and just pick up a paint project every now and then. More different white troopers does nothing for the game, just like blue marines vs red marines vs black marines or silver marines didn't do anything for me in 40k.

You could get an Obi-Wan command card called “Catty Tea Drinking” whereby your opponent’s actions are delayed while the enemy commander is obligated to provide tea service.

this topic actually popped up when i was at a destiny tournament saturday.

Virtually everybody there all seriously want clone, droid, and gungan armies. Especially the guys that are good painters want the Gungans.

I dont see it happening any time soon but maybe in a year or so we might see another faction pop up. With hope they wont immediately jump to FO/RES because seriously they do not have enough stuff yet that isnt just a recolor.
I play 5droids in destiny. I would LOVE a Separatist army so i can annoy my friends with "Roger roger" all day lol

Hah! Sorry, I didn't actually play the game, I just saw the announcements for new expansions as they popped upon my Facebook...so I didn't know any characters were represented in the upgrade cards. And it makes sense they'd say the ship was retrofitted to not break continuity, but it's still the only ship that was created for that era, right?

Kinda.

Assaj is a pilot card for the Lancer, which is of that era, as well as more modern, since it was intended that she be shown flying one in the series - before it was cancelled.

Im not up with the rest of the range - I just know the ARC argument has repeated a bunch ?

Alex Davy was recently interviewed on a podcast and they stated that once everything was mined from the original trilogy, they would move onto other time periods. He sited rogue one, solo and rebels as contenders, I’m sure clone wars and the new trilogy as well but it’s going to be a long, long wait.

Here to agree with Clone Wars being put into Legion. I'd actually rather see this than the new sequel trilogy stuff. I feel like a Stormtrooper from the Empire is a Stormtrooper from the First order, and Rebel trooper is a resistance trooper...really, what would be the difference? (in terms of flavor, that is.) With the clone wars at least 1 of the factions is basically "never seen before".

Typo

All I can say about that is, I'll never buy a single Clone Wars army (or Resistance vs. 1st Order army), but I would buy multiple armies of "neutral forces" from the galactic civil war era. If they released the right figures for them that is. It may or may not belong I don't know. But I'll never spend a dime on it.

AMEN. I'd love to see a Crimson Dawn/Black Sun/Hutt Cartel/renegade bantha operator/whatever before I ever play Genosian/droid/clone whatever. I'd buy scum hired guns to paint.

The problem I see for neutral forces is, game companies seem like to release "a little bit of this, a little bit of that". Whereas I do themed collection armies. So while I would buy 800 points of Tusken Raiders, I would never buy a Tusken squad to ally with Boba and Muftak.

I'm not against bringing Clone Wars forces into the game, though I'd prefer them in Armada first.

The thing with the Clone Wars is that they have the potential for large pitched battles as opposed to the galactic civil war which generally has smaller conflicts on account of it being guerrilla campaign. In any pitched battle the rebels tend to be trying to withdraw, otherwise the rebels tend to deploy a platoon or so from a shuttle/transport which seems to be what we have in Legion.

With that in mind, while some of the models for the Clone Wars would look great, as a whole it might be better served at a smaller scale. 15mm may be too small but 20mm would keep enough detail while still getting toward actual legions and heavy armour being used.
