My Legion Imperials

By TauntaunScout, in Painting

Here we go. Core set, Veers, 1 squad of snowtroopers. Very much "quick and dirty" especially the core set figures, you can see my notes about that in my rebel thread. Due to poor lighting, Veers and Vader had to be propped up against their men for photos. I guess from here I just add 2 or 3 more snowtrooper squads and an AT-ST and then the army is done until E-webs hit store shelves. Someday if they release Imperial Army or Navy troops, and a commander in a basic cloth uniform, I will acquire those too and make an Endor army. But I am all done collecting ordinary stormtroopers and scout troopers. I would also be game to add many, many dewbacks and a sandtrooper commander...

Thanks. At this point my painting is about being cost-effective. I'm trying to get the most visual impact for the least amount of time and fewest number of new hobby supplies.

Veers, as we now know, apparently wore green in the movie. Poor lighting in the AT-AT led Kenner to prduce their "AT-AT Commander" in a combination of greys and thus it was sealed into the minds of fandom. But I went with a dark grey uniform and almost black armor, to look, you guessed it, like the cover of the WEG D6 game book.

Thanks. They are just primed white, painted grey, then drybrushed with 1 coat of white. Guns, hands, and certain specialist equipment painted black and drybrushed grey. Black ink in the eyes. I did not bother to turn the bodygloves black except for the very prominent knee of the kneeling specialist troopers. Nor did I bother with additional coats of white. They would benefit greatly from such things when inspected up close. But during games you can't really tell the difference and I am sick to death of painting hardshell humans.

Adding a 3rd squad of stormtroopers (even though I said I never would) is on the horizon. Together with 2 AT-ST's, I'll have all the points I ever need to deploy imperial might to forest, desert, or indoor styled tabletops. Watch this space. Tomorrow I should get a window for priming. Today is hardcore assembly day.
