Initiate Order Question, after first round

By kenan03, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello everyone,

I just had one brief question. I understand that when everyone first rolls initiative, PC's can decide amongst themselves who goes in which PC slot. However, after that first round (where everyone has already chosen an order), can players trade slots between them in later rounds or is that order then set? For example, the first two initiative slots are PC. Round one, the consular chooses to go first and the warrior chooses to go second. In round two, can they switch order? Or is that order then always set? Thanks!

The PCs decide each round who goes in which slot. Likewise, the GM decides which NPC goes in each slot. So the order you're in for the first round isn't set and can be changed at will.

Granted, it's best if you use a little strategy, because your GM definitely will. If you have a PC with an ability that buffs their allies until the start of their next round, for example, they can go first in one round to get it started and then go last in the next to maximize its effect. But don't forget the NPCs can pull the same trick.

Likewise, if you have the first and last rounds of initiative locked up, and one PC who's the only one working on a task or able to do serious damage to a major enemy, you can have them go in the last slot of the first round, then again in the first slot of the second round. And again, there's nothing to stop the GM from doing the same thing.
