Just something I had in my draft box for a while.

Had plans to make it a video for MOTF but got a bit lazy. The math is interesting though!
Darth Vader vs Luke Skywalker 1 on 1 Analysis
Vader is a bit more expensive and a bit more powerful. Cool stuff with raw Numbers.
However thanks to vaders speed 1 and lukes high mobility I always try the sos Skywalker 3 attacks when I put 2-3 dmg on vader with some range attacks.
Cool analysis though
Well written and useful analysis. Thanks for posting!
This is unusual as I haven't seen Luke defeat Vader in a single game yet.

Agreed. When I play against Luke, he generally kills what he touches, including Vader. Probably why I run Veers more often.
Theres no doubt in a straight slugfest 1on1 Vader would win. The difference is Luke has the positional play in spades.
Vader is so slow he usually cant bolt across an opening without getting shot at a couple times. I rarely ever send my luke on him when hes at full hp, not only because its basically removing my positional advantage with Luke to just go diving at a full hp vader but Vader IS stronger so why would i do that anyway.
Luke on the other hand is fast enough and has Jump access to bolt around terrain and be completely covered from most angles majority of the time.

They both do better work for their army by staying away from each other and obliterating everything else. Straight point value killed isn't always the best way to value a unit.
...interesting.....

Give the man a prize. It's kind of a waste to sick your best pierce weapon on the only enemy unit that's immune to pierce. The only exception to this is if you're so far ahead of the other player that you need to stop them from catching up, so you engage the other model to try and limit their activations.

Ive played about 5 games with luke vs a vader player. 4/5 Luke wins. Only once has luke died and maybe twice he got more than half damage.
I usually dont intentionally have my luke go after Vader but Vader is always in the way when i try to go for the troops.
If Vader is within charging reach, i have to take the opportunity because if i dont he can catch up to me pretty quick if i failed to finish off the troopers i charged.
The like....literal one game ive had where neither died or even shot at each other (thrown at each other for vader) was a slaughterfest. It only ended in my favor because i had a Grappling Hook team sitting on the top floor of one of our very very few higher than height1 buildings, which is where the objective was and it was in the back of my deployment. He never got to it in time and Luke singlehandedly slaughtered 3 troopers off the other objective while Vader cleaned off the third of 2 troopers. There wasnt enough time to clear the objective then contest another so Vader just sat there the last turn hoping Luke would fail to kill the last guy - which he didnt :). Vader and half a troopersquad for imps and Luke with a full squad when the game ended rofl....
Closest game ive had. Every time Luke/Vader duke it out the player that won is usually whoever won the duel between those two, since it usually happens early enough to not be able to stop the winner from mulching half your forces afterwords.
