AT-AT Walkers

By Noosart, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hi all,

A small side project for a battle of Hoth demo table.

I'd bought turrets and speeders from Shapeways, but found the Micro Machines AT-AT Walkers a bit more price friendly. Now I just need to paint them all in an appropriate color.

Starting, of course, with a gray primer.

Then I sprayed the shadow sides in a strong dark gray.

After that dried I used increasing lighter shades to create the top lighting effect.

Next step will be adding washes and other effects to add some contrasts and details.

Very cool!

If you get any more it would be neat to try and pose the heads & legs slightly differently, just for varieties sake. Otherwise, two thumbs up! Keep posting!

Great job !

I'd like to do the same, I'll print some AT-AT from thingiverse.

Can you share the cards and your home rules ?

As a start I will be using these rules I found on Boardgame Geek

I'm not sure if I like using infantry... The smalles modells I have now, are the small dish turrets. Also I already have the DF-9 turrets and snow speeders. I'll keep you updated on the progress...

That's the scale folks seemed to be clamoring for when they announced SW: Legion.

Now I'm dreaming of a "pocket sized" version of SW: Legion!

Yeah, I still believe ground assault is the next best step to expand the X-Wing miniatures game. But with all the other SW related games FFG has pumped out, I don't think it will be publiched anytime soon.

The steps are small, but there is yet another bit of progress ?

The AT-ATs on the right side received a bit of brown wash. I've used Burnt Umber oil paint to wash on a bit of dirt. Later I will also use some black for pin washing the panel lines and get a bit more contrast.

I gave the first model it's pinwash. I still need to smudge some parts, but the contrast is building up already.

And today I got some new models from Shapeways. They look absolutely stunning

Nice generator for my Hoth theme.

And the Zeta class shuttle as seen in Rogue One.

The spoon in the picture is a regular table spoon. So yeah, it's quite big :)

The first model is finished ?

I gave it a simple edge hightlight to boost the contrast. Now the rest of the walkers and a couple of bases.

I finished all my AT-ATs. Shot a nice group photo, but the fouth was falling behind and got out of frame :)

Now I'm working on the bases to get the correct statistics on there.
