Premonitions Clarification

By Wyliekyote, in Star Wars: Destiny

Help a brother out here! Need some clarification on PREMONITIONS.

"Choose one: set this card aside and stack a card from your hand on it facedown, or play the card stacked on another copy of this card for free and discard the set aside copy."

You need a second copy of the FACEDOWN card to activate this cards action. The "discard the set aside copy" refers to the FACEDOWN card, not Premonitions. Right? If not.... so.... so... broken.... ?

No, just two copies of Premonitions.

Let's say you have in your hand: Premonitions and Force Throw.

You can play Premonitions and place Force Throw upside down on top of Premonitions.

Later, you can play the second premonitions and you play the facedown card (force throw, the first copy) for free. You don't need 2 copies of force throw, if that is your question, but you do need two copies of premonitions.

And to further clarify: no it is not broken. It requires 3 cards to execute, and for those 3 cards(2x premonitions and whatever you want to play with it) to be in your hand at fortuitous times.

It can be good, but it's not broken.

A friend told me a long time ago that if you use Premonitions, and then your opponent plays a copy before you do, your opponent gets the face down card instead of you. Odds of two people running this card now a day is unlikely though.

It was common when Palp was new since it gives him access to expensive stuff for free like Rise Again, since its any card not an upgrade card.

It wasnt common because Palp wanted to steal whatever it was: it was common to steal from palp and also to totally mindgame him by using it on "The Price Of Failure" which btw does not prevent you from killing your own, final blue character lol

I’ve started running Premonitions because of the release of Dark Ritual. But I was at an event where a guy was running the draw your whole hand and salvo launch bay to obliterate the enemy’s team. My plan to beat the deck was to try as hard as possible to get a Premonitions to steal his launch bay. That play would nullify that deck.

Also just of note if you do end up stealing a die card from premonitions if you didn't bring the die to an event you cant use the card. Same goes for some cards resolving a landing craft as your own (sensor placement, I am your father)

i find that hard to believe since that would make die cards virtually immune since nobody is going to bring their entire dice collection just in case. And even if they did you'd waste a TON of time fishing for it since you cant possibly know what it could be ahead of time

You dont need your own die when Grievous steals an upgrade.

There lies a huge Problem in this instance as the die is currently not in play but is in the others players set aside zone while grevious steals the dies already in play,

Let just take the battle driod example if you playing in a tourney setting. if you brought your only copy of battle driod to use for two copies of landing craft with the intention of playing only one extra droid at a time since you are unlucky and only pulled one.if some one steals your battle driod with the mention effect, by saying what you said I now have you give my only copy to you because your not prepared for this situation and I am unable to play my other driod because you are in possession in it.

So seeing that these are specific cards the you choose play which causes these of dieing being "stolen", so you as the player should be responsible for bringing items you may or may not want to use.

And this can happen with other cards also like run away boomas and reinforce in certain nitch situations

Not to mention in these settings you may run into people who just don't like other people touching their stuff, and while if this where to happened to me I would be totally fine with just playing as you said but I do understand the why other players would be hesitant to let other people roll their dice. The thing is,these card were never created with these intentions.
