Suggestion to FFG

By Coranhann, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello everyone,

I know FFG doesn't take game design suggestion. So I'm not making one, I'm making a ... "business" suggestion, almost.

First, a few contextual points:

  • Armada is, or at least feels, starved for content as of late.
  • It's a pain to have your fleet complete with all upgrades cards. Most players around me use custom made upgrade cards as they only have one (or no) copy of a given upgrade card.
  • Some cards text has been heavily errataed. Making the old copies confusing.
  • Some ships' design feel dated, and could use an upgrade / rework.

Here is my suggestion:

Make "Armada seasonal expansion".

Twice a year or so, publish a pack with the following content:

  1. A set of existing upgrade cards, including a few uniques and 3 copies of several regular one. (i.e. 3/5 uniques, with admirals & uprgrades such as titles, and a selection of upgrades, with 3 copies of external racks, XI7 Turbolasers, and some less popular ones)
  2. A set of brand new upgrade cards, including "experienced version" of existing unique (like a "Jedi Knight Luke"...)
  3. A set of new version of existing ships (full, with ship card and ship token) for 3/4 ships. (I suggest starting with the less popular one, or the one designers think might need a rework the most).
  4. New squadron, "à la" Correlian conflict.
  5. Include a folded A4 rules update, full with info for rules such as Chaff, Raid & Errata.
  6. Possibly : New objectives cards, new obstacles etc...

Such a pack would cost a few dollars to produce, and we would all gladly purchase it for 20/25$ (if the new ships & cards are cool).

They would serve 4 important objectives:

  • Reactivate the community with regular new content, to be used in between waves.
  • Give a reason to revisit old ships, based on new design introduced in seasonal expansion (i.e. A new VSD, with different nav chart and/or different firing arcs).
  • Allow players, to play with 100% legit cards.
  • To effectively errata cards text through reprint, and spread errata & new rules through the community in a physical fashion.

I hope this gets noticed by the moderators and escalated to the rest of FFG Armada's staff. Thanks for taking the time reading this.
