Looking for some Conversion Help

By Myrrik, in Genesys

Hi All

I am in the process of putting together a Fantasy setting for my players using Genesys, and I have been eye-balling my extensive pile of Runequest material. I am considering converting some of the monsters from RQ (specifically the newest version - Mythras/RQ6) into monsters for Genesys but am at a bit of a loss where to start.

Has anyone done any conversion work previously? Any advice on how to convert RQ stats to Genesys stats?

Thanks in advance

Not sure if you saw it, but Fantasy Flight has published their first fantasy setting called Realms of Terrinoth. There is also a Creature Catalogue created by Direach in the Genesys Master Resources List for another data point.

I would also look at the various settings folks have already done in the Your Settings area of the forums. Some GREAT stuff out there!

So many resources ... so little time!

hello

my quicky base formula for converting npc attributes STR/DEX/SIZ/CON/INT/POW/CHA is x 3/10 round up with

Brawn = STR+SIZ+CON /3
Agility = DEX
Intellect = INT+POW / 2
Cunning = CHA+POW / 2
Willpower = POW
Presence = CHA

do not convert other attributes but calculate genesys derived chararcteristics from here.

Magic Points are a special case.

Movement Rate: if you must have a MOV use it from RQ or calculate (BRN+AGL) * 5ft/round

Skills: 100+ = 5, 95+ = 4, 75+ = 3, 50+ = 2, 1-50 = 1

the above formula does not consider high-value attributes and high characteristics are different in Genesys than WHFRP3 from which my formula was developed

you may use the alternate version below:

Stats: 100+ = 6(+4), 80+ = 6(+3), 60+ = 6(+2), 40+ = 5(+2), 20+ = 5(+1)

you might want to consider the (+N): add N tiers worth of talents related to characteristic

example: (+2) would mean to add one Tier 2 or two Tier 1 Talents related to the characteristic.

you may also lower some attributes you may consider to high and add tiers worth of Talents instead.

Thanks Terefang - That's a good basis for what I was looking for. Much appreciated!
