How did you guys put this together, i just can’t seem to fit it?

I used a serious amount of it. No luck
Do you have 2 'identical' black plastic bits? Just a thought? Maybe thats the problem if it wont fit if they put two of the same pc in?
Seem to remember mine was a v tight squeeze too.
Isn’t it the same construction as X-wing maneuver wheels? For those I would insert the wider cap through the one wheel (generally the one with the numbers on it), then apply the top wheel and cap with the remaining part.

get two sets of needle nose pliers
GENTLY grasp both ends of the "spool"
Pull Apart
When you have them apart:
stack the two cardboard discs together properly.
Then pus the wider bit through each section (separately) in the same direction. i.e. start from the top or bottom of both.
Then stack it all together.

You can just use fingers, and the plastic is less likely to crush if you’re not using a tool

He said that they appear to be "fused together."
Personally I'd use my teeth and fingers, but I've had to do this before.
Nvm guys I’m just disabled. I separated them. I don’t understand why they weren’t separating before
