Going below Zero Fel

By [email protected], in Dark Heresy Gamemasters

So. Acenssion is finaly out, and with it the much waited for Acenssion paths.

Now, as it has allways been, there are many options in the book that lets the players swap/trade in diffrent stats for other benefits and imo the most traded in stat is Fel.

What happens if a character would go below zero in Fel? is it even possible or would a Talent/Trait/Skill that would bring a char below zero be inaccesible to the char?

This is of course most intressting for the Techpriest/Magos who is not able to increase their Fel, while having many options that taxates Fel to get other benefits.

What is your take on this and have anyone else noticed anything similar to this problem/situation?

There are actual rules for 0 stats. I don't have the book in front of me, but I know they are all bad. Fel is the "least bad" though. 0 Fel makes the character a mute, and is unable to convey themselves to the outside world. That effectively kills a character in a way, but it's not as bad as 0 Tough as that actually kills you.

thanks for the answer.

Are you refering to the characteristics damage on page 200 of the core rule book? If so, i was thinking about if charateristic damage and characteristic decreeses gained in the way that i talk about above would be treated in the same way?

That is indeed what he is reffering to. Attribute "damage" is still the same basic concept regardless of the source. So some evil Dark Eldar flayed your torso down to the bone without actually killing you and made sculptures with your ribs? Ouch, permanent Toughness and possibly Fellowship damage there! So you just HAD to peek up the skirt that the Bringer of Change was wearing for some reason? Wow, possibly lasting Willpower damage there depending on how badly you failed that -40 WP test. Or perhaps you got some cybernetic implants that involved cutting out some of your more "expendable biological traits"? Since it is a permanent reduction of a stat it is really NO different from the above hypotheticals. If one of your stats hits 0 you are no longer a PC, and that is best case... Mute and unable to communicate to the outside world in any way is NOT an Inquisition field agent. Chances are far more likely it is either a servitor or a mercy-killing.

In short: If an Eversor Temple assassin has ever commented on your lack of empathy and general "******-upedness" then you are no longer playing that character.

And at Fel 0 no one will buy the poor character a drink ....

So he would become an autistic Tech-Priest who doesn't answer when adressed, doesn't interact with the people around him and only communicates by email (or 40k equivalent). Theorically still playable but...

Not really in this game. He'll be permanently wired into the machines of a forge world for the rest of his days no doubt, only able to comunicate through programming code.
