Boxes shipping!

By Kakita Jack, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Not to alarm everyone but every factions next box just started shipping.

My hobby is ready.

To show you this magic trick i need your walets. Durms please. There they are now thinner.

Aww **** me. I haven’t even finished painting the last Uthuk releases.

Still, only 10 figures this time (2 box wraith, kethra). Not as much to paint

YAY!!!!

I'll have to prime a bunch more stuff. Just finished priming the rest for the regionals tournament this weekend. No raw minis on the table from me.

Yeah. I won’t have a raw mini for this weekend. Just maybe one thresher not washed, touched up, and sealed. Though that leaves a Thresher and 8 Berserkers left to finish. All of which will be set aside to focus on painting a good Kethra model.

Wraiths May have to wait a bit.

Should arrive just in time to not be legal at GenCon

So close! I was dying to bring Darnati to GenCon...

I guess they're trying to get people excited to bring the new stuff to World's since they aren't legal for GenCon. Sneaky.

It would have been nice to see if the widely assessed Uthuk issue was addressed by the new units at the largest tournament to date, though.

Oh well, so long as it's not an off-putting turnout like half the field as Uthuk players playing Ravos with 2x1 Threshers, it could be fine.

Threshers just too strong right now?

Maybe? They were already incredibly efficient before they got a very nice boost with Scuttling Horror.

To play devil’s advocate on the “widely assessed Uthuk issue:”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thought Uthuk haven’t even won a regional yet. They certainly aren’t being played in droves either

Have any regionals been played since the Threshers box released?

You are right, of course. Like I said, barring blatantly unhealthy-looking player distribution at GenCon, it's probably fine and more of a personal disappointment than anything else.

Regionals are tough because they're such small samples, but Uthuk have in fact claimed at least one so far:

I guess we won't know for sure whether we can moan and complain until after NA champs at Gencon and then Worlds in November.

Cool. Point made.

As it is, I am gong to do my best to skew the curve towards Uthuk at two regionals and Gencon

All but 1 regional played with the new releases, and only 1 was won with Uthuk. I know of 2 regionals, San Antonio and Houston1 that had 0 uthuk players in attendance. (and both events had Uthuk primary players who chose to play something else)

I won with Uthuk before the box was released at Gameology and just won a 6 man tournament with nothing but spined threshers on the table.

Mostly threshers army won in North Carolina also.

Maybe if they just added limits to certain types of units like 40k did with he Rule of 3 recently it would help? I am not saying do that exactly but something like it.

I am a new Uthuk player, and only use the one Thresher that game with starter. Id rather have more Rippers and the new Vipers and a Zerker horde with upgrades. But thats me.

I personally really dislike unit limits. Part of the fun for me is dreaming up crazy impractical min/max armies.

Definitely. In theory, what's the maximum trays of Reanimates you could include in an army? 36 trays? That's 3 units of 12-tray, with 8 points left over for upgrades. At least I can dream about it.

That's 144 figures to paint! And here I was feeling overwhelmed with 48 Berzerkers.

The problem with infantry figures is that you get tired of them much faster than other units. I started with my archers, because I needed to regain my skill, and they were the best test pieces since there were so many of them, and because I knew that I wouldn't want to go back to them once I started on the bigger pieces.

I actually made a thread about this. With Maru you can get up to 48 trays of reanimates. :)
