Though the campaign is five missions long, like the first campaign for the Legends of the Alliance companion app, the Jabba’s Realm digital campaign actually features eight new missions, offering plenty of replayability should you choose to dive into the world of Tatooine's scum and villainy once again. Although the narrative structure and story beats of these missions is similar to what is found in the physical campaign, the missions themselves are entirely new!

They make us wait this long....for another 5 mission campaign ? ? ? . Glad to see more content bit can't say I'm a little disappointed. Was hoping for a larger campaign like road to legend got.

I'm excited. I haven't bought Jabba's Realm yet, but this is a good excuse to do so. I know some might disagree, but I think this is a good method of giving your expansion some added value. I like the app because it can make changes to the cards on the fly with no need for a formal errata.

EDIT: I didn't realize until I reread it, that it was only 5 missions in the campaign, but, as they said, there are more missions for the purpose of re-playability. That is a little disappointing on its face.

The missions themselves are different. The story beats is the same.

Its free, so no complaints from me. I hope they are able to fix the random enemy type spawning though. I dont really want to see any wampas showing up on Tatooine.

Can’t argue with free.

I like the idea of tying new app campaigns to boxes like this. Plus if a new player buys Jabba’s Realm for the app, he’ll have all the tools to be competitive in a local skirmish tourney.

For me, new campaign is cool no matter the length! I can see how someone who exclusively plays with the app might be a bit disappointed though. Jabba's Realm expansion is a big box which means a larger investment if not already owned. But at least there will be more replayability with this one than with the already existing app campaign.

Spoilers for booklet campaign

I hope it doesn't follow the exact same beats.

It'd be cool if you could choose to work for Jabba the entire time without him betraying you, or if maybe even you can team up with the Empire against the Hutts or something.

I'm skeptical of what exactly that means. We could be looking at the same basic missions as we have in the current box, only with a different map layout. Similar to how the first mission in Flight of the Freedom Flyer is basically a reskinned Under Siege. If so, I'll be a bit disappointed.

I wonder why Jabba's Realm over the other expansions?

Not that I'm complaining, just curious.

Maybe it sold the best (likely a product of its appeal to skirmish players and multiple box purchases, above anything)?

5 missions is a pretty nice length for a lot of groups. Would take my group 6+ months to get through it

I’m hoping it helps more players get into skirmish. I don’t know if that was the decision point, but I bet it was a factor. Once you have that box, you have enough usable stuff to make a solid skirmish list

And, at least in my experience, App missions seem to have a crap-ton more going on. I've never felt like the board was so crowded as I have in app missions.

If it sold the best, that would probably be a reason NOT to use it. If only people who already own JR use this, FFG doesn't make any money from people buying new boxes. So why go with the best selling box?

I think this app is for people who already own IA, but it just didn't tickle their brain in quite the way they wanted and so they haven't bought much for it. They need a slightly tweaked version of IA to maybe reengage them. So the marketing people at FFG thought "Hey, Jabba's got more name recognition than anyone on the cover of the other big boxes. That'll hook these fallen-by-the-wayside players."

Having 8 missions instead of just 5 is a nice bonus. Makes it twice as replayable. Jabba's Realm seems like a good choice, it's old enough to be worthy of a sales bump, but not so old that it's below the power curve if players want to pivot into skirmish.

Nice to see IA getting so much love from FFG lately in the face of big releases like Legion, Destiny and XW 2.0.

Regarding the story:

I'm guessing it will follow the major story beats of:

1. Land on Tatooine and fight off the Empire with help from Jabba's troops

2. Run an errand for Jabba

3. Be forced to choose between helping Jabba or the Rebel Alliance

4. Fight the Empire, either with or against Jabba.

5. Assault Jabba's palace or be betrayed by him depending on your choice in 3.

Most likely #1 and #3 will always be the same, and 2, 4, 5 will have 2 possible missions each, hence the 8 new missions in a 5 mission structure.

Question: What tokens and cards that are sold separately are in the Jabba's Realm box. Obviously Jabba, but is Captain Terro and the Alliance Rangers also in that box? They came out at the same time. I figure if I'm going to buy the box, I may as well get the figures that have tokens in it, because the app will make them appear, I've found.

Yep. Captain Terro (but oddly not the dewback, I don't think), the Alliance Rangers and Jabba himself all had tokens in the box

Is there a way to have Captain Terro w/o the Dewback?

Terro and dewback rider are two separate pieces that pop onto the back of the dewback model

Jedi Luke also I think if I'm not mistaken

This is fantastic news! Jabba's Realm is my favorite campaign story (and content) to date, so I can't wait to play a hero on this! (even though I've played it before in the regular version, but that doesn't matter). I wonder how closely the app version will follow the regular version, and whether the app throws us some interesting twists on the story?

Would be nice to be able to "earn" some "villain" bounty hunters during encounters to bring on as an "ally" for the next mission!

My girlfriend has an interesting observation; knowing the app, the Rancor is going to get deployed in EACH AND EVERY DAMNABLE MISSION! heh heh

Not that I complain, eh IanSolo? #RancorAppreciationSociety tfw!

Pfft, The Rancor was the hero of act one of Return of the Jedi and was killed by the evil Luke Skywalker. Poor thing was caged, rarely given a good pork dinner, mostly just boney dancers and never got to see the sun. Nevertheless he was a great guy that was loved by those that knew him best.

oh and Yay for more App material. It is slow coming but at least they got one guy working on it still.
