Saw, Keyan, Wedge. Possibly the most fun you can have in rebels in v1 x-wing

By Rich P, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I rolled this little beauty out at my flgs last night as part of my effort to fly ships that aren't Lowhhrick, Sheathipede & one other in the run in to second edition, and I was not disappointed.

Double modded shots all over the place, just enough jank to keep you interested ... and oh my, but thrust corrector was just made for Keyan Farlander.

What if you switched Jan Ors for Hera Syndulla? I would think having another evade would improve survivability a bit more, yes?

Then you can’t permastop and get double modded attacks from the edge of combat. Hera is a critical piece to keep the U-Wing relevant to the engagements.

Looks pretty tanky, plus all those passive mods/re-rolls.

That's a lot of damage being slung around.

Whats the point of Expert Handling on a U-Wing that will rarely be able to perform an action what with permastopping?

And is sensor Jammer solid without the ability to effectively deny focua mods?

I also might suggest PTL Wedge with an R2 to capitalize on Saw's ability

Expert Handling allows Saw to move a huge distance for an early block. Also barrel rolling U-Wings are hilarious.

I thought about Push Wedge but decided against it because of reapers and Jam. I might give it a try next week.

Sensor Jammer - I was wondering what to put there. Adv Sensors and FCS don’t work. I did get some value out of it. Engineering bump fests and making people toss unmodded dice meant it added great value.

Would you have a suggestion for a better place to put those points?

Fair points on EH and PTL!

Honestly, I can't think of a per se better use, if you are planning on going for the blocks - I just can't help but think that there will be lots of Expertise out there to make it less than useful. Thrust Corrector could help, or CollDet

Then you could also use TacJam, APL, or Ion Projector!

i prefer rage, inspiring recruit and thrust corrector on keyan ;)

Still keeping at this list, I'm having a lot of fun with it while everyone else at the club is in store champs/nationals prep mode.

Thinking of trading Keyan for 41 points of end game Norra by cheapening Saw ... everyone loves Norra...

So do Maul and Saw resolve in sequence and independently? i.e. Farlander can go, I'm going to take a stress and re-roll one for Maul, and now that I'm stressed I'm going to re-roll one more for Saw?

Yes, with the caveat that you can't reroll the same die twice. You can resolve separate reroll effects in sequence. For example: hit, focus, blank. Reroll the focus with Maul, reroll the blank with Saw.

When you resolve a particular reroll effect, you have to declare all the dice you want to reroll with it at once, then reroll them. Then you can resolve a second reroll effect.

Norra will get ripped to shreds with all the jamming about these days, Keyan is a much safer choice imho

cool. That does sound like a good combo, cos then he can say I'm going to spend this stress with my ability and since I hit you I can Maul another away and be stress-free!

Just did this in a fun casual match. Had a blast. Havent put a Bwing on the table in years. Played versus BB8 Poe and two Red Sqd Vets. Keyan and Wes survived and were victorious.

Oh now, that is interesting. I've been struck by the number of times I've looked at my U-Wing and thought ... if only I could turn 90 degrees now!

Tactical Jammer and IR are interesting concepts ... especially as IR allows Keyan and Wes to be stress immune while hiding behind Saw and bringing the pain. I might try this one.
