If there's no Gencon update...

It sounds sound but it's not what happens in reality at least in our meta. We have almost NO overlap from X-Wing / Armada players. The systems speak to completely different playertypes and i guarantee you that maybe 10% of the Armada players might switch to X-Wing if at all if Armada was cancelled. Yes, i'm sure there's a ton of people who can anecdotally "proof" me wrong because they know some people who are different but this is a question for each meta / country that's probably answered different.

I have 2 completely different customerbases for both games as already said and they tend to go for genre (Strategy Games / Armada or Tactical / X-Wing). I don't have a single X-wing player from the top of my head (although they do exist i'm sure) that picked up legion of course, but i have alot of Armada Players that dipped their feet into Legion at the moment. Same btw for Destiny.

I highly doubt that this is the case. Bare any FFG sources or insider information that's just a nice theory since FFG is not the only thing that exists in the Gaming Hobby, they definitely don't stall one product line in the hopes the other doesn't get cannibalised. There are much much closer systems to X-Wing than for instance Armada and they are not coming from FFG. What you describe is a perfectly valid strategy, but for a Retailer, not a Publisher.

Yeah, if Armada dies, I will likely just put my money into 40k and Adeptus Titanicus (doing so anyways, seeing howas nothing new from Armada and I have a pretty maxed collection already). I have Xwing and I occasionally try it out, but it just doesn't have the strategic depth of play (fun, but it's kind of a throwaway game for me). There are quite a few xwing/armada crossover players who play both in my group, and most of them prefer Armada but will play X-wing based on time and availability of games/tables. Legion is interesting (and Runewars), but do not have enough variety yet to be that intriguing to me personally. It's a big summer for major miniatures games releases, and I think Armada just not important enough to stand out.

Wait, you mean that stork has been lying to me all these years!?

At this point I'm not expecting anything, and if were to get something it would be squeaking in there at the end of the year or more likely pushed to a release sometime in say January or February. I'd love to be proven wrong but with X-Wing looking like it is getting a release in September, December, and February and Legion getting something every month, add in Runewars and it is likely they are just all eating up too much of FFG's production resources to get anything to us. I guess we can take solace in getting at least getting the MC75 and Chimera this year...even if they were originally slated for Q4 2017.

That’s what I was afraid of. Dang.
