X-Wing Vassal module hotfix v8.0.9

By Mu0n729, in X-Wing

X-Wing Vassal module hotfix v8.0.9 can be found here (it fixes the autospawn if you tried to use a URL squad in yesterday's newly released v8.0.8).

Missed yesterday's release of v8.0.8? You can click through the link above and reach that version's patch notes (if you go to yesterday's blog post). Main new thing: a Team Covenant 2.0 demo game that was played between FFG's designer Alex Davy and Team Covenant's co-founder Zach Bunn - both lists can be spawned in the autospawn and you'll get all the proxy elements you need to 100% play it.

Pro-tip: if you hate swapping the module file for a new one (especially if it's a 2nd day in a row), you could technically keep v8.0.8 around and only use XWS-format exported squads. The only thing that was broken in v8.0.8 is the autospawn when you give it a squad URL. If you don't mind converting it to XWS in your favorite squad builder, then you don't need v8.0.9. If you no idea what I'm talking about and want to always keep the latest and greatest for Vassal, then my friend, download this :)

Here's a collection of things to keep in mind while you test out a 2.0 game in the Vassal module:

Spawning a 2.0 damage deck:

  • it's been added a few module versions ago. It features a card design by user @Ablazoned. Check it out!

Using 2.0 tokens:

  • They can be spawned from the Pieces Window, 2.0 Stuff tab (they are not all there just yet)

Reading up on all these new card effects:

  • It's been added a few modules ago and integrates information found on the web in some community data repos. Select a card (placeholder) and do CTRL-Q to see its text in the chat window

Flipping Servomotor S-Foils or Pivot Wing:

  • Just like in 1.0: on the ship itself, use ALT-U. The ship graphic changes to reflect their wing mode

90 degree and 180 degree rotations (Pivot Wing):

  • Just like in 1.0, you can do a 180 degree rotation without moving your ship's position by doing CTRL-U (U for U-Turn)
  • Newly added: 90 degree rotations can be done with Alt-Left Arrow and Alt-Right Arrow

Using the bullseye arc (for Crack Shot):

  • Ctrl-X toggles the arc graphic
  • Ctrl-Shift-X gives you firing options inside that arc

Marking a charge token as spent:

  • Select it and toggle it between active/spent with Ctrl-F

Using the Y-Wing single turret (ion cannon turret):

It's basically used like a lancer-class mobile turret, so:

  • Alt-M rotates the turret indicator clockwise
  • Alt-Shift-M rotates it counter-clockwise
  • Alt-F toggles the single turret arc graphic
  • Alt-Shift-F gives you a lancer-class autorange firing options (not ideal, since it should not include the front arc if the single turret is pointing elsewhere, but that refinement is for another day)

Mu0n ... I never know what you are talking about, but I have learned it pays to listen anyway ... ?

Thanks for all of your hard work !

If anyone had gotten a 2.0 game going in 8.0.8 or 8.0.9, I'd love to hear about it

Where should we report bugs going forward? It's nothing major for this first one, just the spawn hull/shield value for the Gray Squadron Bomber Y-Wing shows up 4 hull and 3 shields and it's supposed to be 6 hull / 2 shields.

EDITED: I found a few others, but will await your response as to where these should be reported.

Thanks for the notice.

Bugs can be reported here or with a github account at https://github.com/Mu0n/XWVassal/issues

Quick workaround for your bug: you can alter a ship stats with:

Alt-H: +1 hull

Ctrl-alt-H: -1 hull

Alt-S: +1 shield

Ctrl-alt-S: -1 shield

(I'm not saying this because I think you don't know, I'm just saying for newcomers to vassal in case they're watching this)
