Aggresive Imperial, can it work at all?

So, started thinking about some new crazy ideas with the new releses and this list popped into my mind.

Aggresive, wants to charge down the board and just destroy the enemy rather than capping objectives.

Could something like this work at all?

784/800
Darth Vader [200]
Force Push [10]
Force Reflexes [15]
Saber Throw [10]

Snowtroopers [48]
Flametrooper [20]
Snowtrooper [12]

Snowtroopers [48]
Flametrooper [20]

Snowtrooper [12]
Imperial Royal Guards [75]
Electrostaff Guard [25]
Environmental Gear [3]

Idk its hard to say. I would think maybe you could lose some games by charging down the field and losing too many guys to be able to challenge objectives or you could overwhelm some opponents and get some easy wins.

When i think of the games i won against good players it usually came down to who deployed better, played smarter, and played more defensively.

I like the concept, but I would personally drop 2x royal guards and a snow for 4x DLTs... I think it would have legs then, and you'd have a few points left over for extra troops or other cute stuff

I like the thought process but I don't know if this specific version has the durability to do what you want. Legion is primarily a shooting game with what is currently released since range 3 > touching bases. When the royal guard drop, I don't think that adding one close combat unit will be enough to make a CC list viable.

I really like this idea, but it seems impractical. I'd maybe drop an Imp Guard and a Flamesnow to throw in a Scout Sonic unit and an E Web, the E Web for some hearty support fire from the rear and the scout for close range black dice and, of course, bombs to deny certain routes into the infantry maw

Thanks for the replies.

I can admit that something like this is more theory than an actual battle plan, not to mention buying all those models just for a crazy plan. i just really like list building and trying noew crazy ideas.

I have only played 2 games now and in them we proxied the royal guards and they are a fun unit to have, they pack a punch in range too and the extra courage really helps. But to base a whole list around them and close combat might not be valid yes. You need more support from infantry. A small squad of Vader och Royal Guards could be just the thing however to win a flank or something.

I have used a list with Vader and Royal Guard in the Simulator twice.

The general concept is ok, but you basically need at least two "task forces", because Vader is too slow to make any circuits due to the mission.

My first Version was with Veers and 2 Defensive Stormtrooper Squads. The mission was intercept Transmissions. It went ok for the Empire, but I felt I need another mobile Element besides Vader to really have field control at at least 2 places with objectives.

The first iteration was:

Vader, Force Push, Saber Throw, Anger (225)

Boba, Duck and Cover, Emergency Stims (154)

2x Royal Guard, Eleectro Staff, Environmental Gear, Tenacity (2 x 107)

Snowtroopers, Flamer (68)

2x Stormtroopers, Dlt (2 x68)

That second game went way better. IHowever, there is definetly a learning curve for Boba and when to use New Ways to Motivate Them for the Guard.

depends on how the opponent rolls and how much cover LOS blocking terrain there is. If you're hiking and getting shot the entire way across the board, you should lose more than half of your army before you get into range. I'd ignore Vader and focus fire the snow troopers then RG and be content for a win.
