"Release Dates"

By AintNoPoser, in Star Wars: Legion

Take this with a grain of salt:

After looking at the Spanish FFG website, they have Han and the Commandos coming the 24th of August in EU (23rd here in the States). Boba and the Scout Troopers are two weeks later on September 7th (6th U.S.).

Again these are estimates. We could see them earlier or later.

Keeping with the end of the month, and allowing for the Priority Supplies being late, wouldn't Han/Friends be expected at the end of this month or is everything now getting pushed back?

knowing FFG, probably pushed back.

FFG are not known for strict release schedules. They are often late.

FFG is never early with a release, not counting a day or 2 "early".

Day or two early can be chalked up to shipping speeds.

After all once its dispatched it will be delivered eventually. How fast is out of the sender's control.

Or online retailers not waiting for the official release date before mailing things out.

Could be worse, could be GF9.

My god they are for sure even worse lol.

Took nearly a year for the Ferengi/Cardassians to show up.

I know, it was a complete crap show. It took what the base game an extra two to three months to be released and then the Ferengi/Cardassian releases dropped what the year after they were said to? I still have my game's insert advertising that, I think, the Ferangi expansion was already available and that the other would be released in later that year.

They still have yet to reveal anything about the Vulcan or Andorian expansions they announced. Its a real shame GF9 is like that since well Ascendancy is a real fun game.

Don't start looking for the product until you see it shipping to stores in the status updates. Then you know it's arrived and on its way. Until then anything can happen. On the Boat means nada as far as actual release times.

The Spanish site doesn't list releases as "On the Boat." Instead it lists actual dates, which are still of course subject to change, but have been fairly good indicators of the release elsewhere.

Yeah, I wouldn't even trust those. Just watch the English site for when they're off the boat. Too many years with FFG to trust anything else.

I'm hoping Scout Troopers are legal for NOVA, but that doesn't seem likely.

The Spanish release dates have (thus far) been within a week of the actual release date for Legion, and are posted MUCH earlier than the FFG update of "shipping." I've heard that Asmodee has been pushing for semi-simultaneous worldwide releases of new Legion product. I'm not advocating taking the Spanish release date as gospel, just indicating that it is a more useful metric than whatever random status a product has listed on the US site.

There have been times already that EU has gotten things for the U.S. The snowtroopers are that example.

So far I believe that is the only instance, and I think that was within a week of the US release? I could be mistaken, and that had all the hallmarks of being an unexpected delay since Veers was released separately.

This is when the following expansions are set to be released according to their respective Amazon listings (not that it makes any of it true, by any stretch.)

Aug 23 — Han Solo

Aug 23 — Commandos

Sept. 6 — Boba Fett

Dec 31 — 1.4 FD Laser Canon

Never trust an an Amazon release date.

This^. It is my understanding that Amazon does not allow sellers to list product without a release date, so the seller just makes one up and changes it once they are announced/the date passes.

I can confirm, I work in customs. Arrival times aren't always met due to a plethora of reasons. Brokers may not process in time leading to bonded shipments, customs may make it a hassle for shipments to get through, vendors may not pay their brokers, carriers may have issues, incorrect paperwork processing leads to increased times. etc. all sorts of fun stuff. One time my buddy received a call about a cancelled shipment because (I won't name the carrier) lost a truck.... never seen that one before, but somehow they lost a truck completely....

This is kinda why I'm just painting up armies without much concern for composition. I can't even plan future purchases. I don't want to spend all the time/money/storage space on multiples of these few early units that would be better spent on a broader collection later.

Agreed. I only have multiples of the core set units so far (and a spare AT-RT because I like the different driver pose).

I've worked in a warehouse receiving games for a while. We've had just about all of this happen. Another thing to know is that they could all arrive on the same boat. It doesn't mean they will make it to the warehouse in the same month. If they are in the same container, then they will likely release at the same time. As soon as they are split between different containers, there's no telling. Customs, delays, dock strikes, etc all figure in to it.

Haven't heard about a lost truck, but we have been called 3 hours after one was supposed to arrive and told "Hey, it hasn't even been moved off the boat like we promised. We know we scheduled this morning, but it will be next week."

I don't mind not having "accurate" release dates, mainly because I know how random shipping can be.
