TIE/ln article is up

Cool stuff. I wonder why they moved Wampa’s ability to a new named ship but kept Wampa in the game?

I really like all the ways to get an extra die, but isn’t Trajectory simulator just going to remove swarms from the meta if it’s less than 10 points?

The new named TIE fighter with 1.0 wampa's ability is the 4th member of Inferno Squad from the book; which really synergizes with the other inferno squad pilots as Hask wants a damage card on the defender to buff his attack and Del Meeko's ability buffs defence if the attacking player has a damage card.

Unless those pilots are in the Upgrade Kit or the Core Set.

Perhaps Black Squadron is an Aces or Epic expansion pack?

This is truly a dark day for the Empire.

Nope, we know the full contents of both of those. Black Squad was cut to make room for traitorous EA trash.

RIP Chaser, Backstabber, Gundark, Dark Curse, and Youngster. You were replaced by a bunch of stupid gits from Inferno squadron. Your passing will be long mourned. ? ? ? ? ?

Backstabber to me is the saddest since now we cannot recreate the Trench Run completely now that Vader lost one of his wingmen. I understand they want new canon pilots but I looked up Seyn Marana and all I know about her is that she is dead. Getting Iden and the rest of Inferno Squad from BF2 (EA) in the game is fine and likely returning the favor since the Raider was featured but Vader should have both his wingmen. Hopefully when they add more Tie and X-Wing pilots, likely in some Epic conversion set or expansion, we will see Backstabber return.

Blue/green coloring aside, the maneuver dial of the 2.0e TIE Fighter looks identical to its 1.0e counterpart. This should help a lot with the relative shortage of TIE Fighter maneuver dials included in the conversion kits.

Would FFG allow 1.0e dials in official 2.0e tournaments if they are functionally identical or would this benefit only casual games?

I’m going to bet that it’s only legal for casual games knowing ffg.

Did you watch the TC video? Both (all) of the killed TIEs were one-shot. Blanked out on four green dice.

Not even close to surprised

Wampas new ability is in keeping with the canon

Just think back to Ep V. Wampas blindsides a force sensitive Luke and knocks him the **** out. But when he approaches dead on, he gets amputated like a punk

As for trajectory sim, it's a case of "fly better". All these +red die TIEs don't need to be flying in formation, especially if you're running range 0-3 Sloane for support

If anything, trajectory gives non-swarms a fighting chance. God knows I want to fly my dang punisher again, and NOT just to watch it get Swiss Cheesed by the Empire's most expendible

I want to know if they will allow cross-faction dials in 2.0. If so, then between the rebel conversion kit (2 dials for the stolen tie), the imperial conversion kit (4 dials), and the Core Set (2 dials) I have all the tie fighter dials I’ll ever want/need for official play.

The Inferno synergy is amazing! Iden keeps Seyn alive long enough to get a damage card on each ship (marksmanship + bullseye?), then Del keeps them alive while Gideon piles on the damage. Take Sloane + Krennic in a Shuttle to round it out. May still be room for a couple more grunts.

Del Meek o - what kind of name is that? When you thought they had run out of stupid SW names....

Amazing pilot abilities, many are fun.

But, Seyn is imho too amazing. Didn't they say, 2.0 does not have stupid autodamage. Voila , there it is again.

Yes, only 2 dice, and less shields in 2.0. But her getting a crit (easier with howlrunner, focus, unknown if she gets a talent...), for example makes it possible for her to shut down an enemy stealth device automatically and deal a damage, regardless of how many green dice the enemy has.

How does a focus help with crits? Marksmanship will be good but situational... You'll have to use palp to proc the ability consistently, just like now.

Are there seriously only 3 black squadron pilots!

This seems like a huge unbalance in the numbers of pilots per squadron: 5ish for inferno squadron, 3 for black squadron, and 2 for Obsidian? The only two significant individual squadrons* that appear in the films have less pilots than a random squadron from some EA computer game, where all the pilots defect anyway?

I mean, they could have chosen to use Inferno squadron because they use modified TIE's, so that they can have more upgrade slots, but I think if they did that it would have been mentioned in the article. If they haven't done that, I will be as annoyed as when the Silencer didn't have a missile slot (perhaps slightly less).

On the other hand, these look like really great abilities with heaps of synergy!

*Debateable

Yeah I don’t see Seyn being too powerful. Definately good but like hawk said you’ll need palp or, being very likely expensive, an upgrade before it’s guranteed to do anything. Not a fan of auto damage period but Seyn is no Sabine.

Tell me about it. It is confusing as heck, why not just give her the charges that gets additiona attack dice and let Wampa keeps his attack ability. It is like he is getting checked for something. <_<

Also, no one ever claimed wampa v1 was op. He never won worlds. No one freaked out over him. His ability in 2.0...no big deal. And worst of all, no one can yell “Wampaaaaaaa!!!”when forcing through a damage card any more.

possibly the greatest nerf to any shop from 1.0 to 2.0.

Cross faction dials are legal now, no reason to think that will change. Even if they did, you can always run them in the plastic upgrade dial, as the internals are identical.

Palp can’t do crits anymore. :(

correct... thank god the devs saw the incoming seyn domination and nerfed it before it began.

For those of you wondering who Seyn is, SHE was one of the members of Inferno Squad on their first major mission. She was in the Inferno Squad book, and Died prior to the video game taking place.

But she was a desk jocky. How did she land a piloting job for this game??

Well, given that a Trench Run is never official anyways, double their pilot points and add them back.

And with this 2.0 TIE/ln being so favorable to running Inferno Squadron, why is there no repaint!!??

It seems like you are mixing up Seyn from Inferno Squad with Jude Edivon from Lost Stars.

Seyn had an eidetic memory, very useful for a special ops/infiltration team which inferno were. She spoke several languages and was a very good shot.

All of inferno squad were qualified pilots, thus, keeping inferno together. I also believe Inferno did a few minor missions before the major op that resulted in Seyn’s death.

All that. In the book there was no reference to her having any piloting skill that I recall.

Maybe she flies in some other source material?? I mean, just because you are Naval Intelligence doesn't mean you have to fly. . .

It never broke Wampa in 1.0, I doubt it would break new-Wampa in 2.0.

Oh, now it makes sense but really I think X-wing can do with a little less of that dumpster fire of a game from Evil Agency.

probably wanted the ability at PS-4 to PS match the rest of inferno squadron, but also wanted a PS-1 named pilot, and knew people liked wampa

People played Wampa for his ability, this Wampa I don't think is going to see much.

I’ll be playing him plenty! Between him, Iden, and Howl, you get a pretty resilient team. More so when you ad Seyn and Del

I don’t play Imperials a lot but Iden, and Gideon really look fun especially teamed with a force super powered Darth Vader.
