What Are You Taking to Store Champs?

I know it sounds ridiculous... But it actually isn't. The bomber will eat a bomb, and a shot, maybe two. But with 6 hull should be fine. Then it's throwing 2 or 3 dice, guaranteeing a critical. Maybe getting hit crit. Even if it's just a crit, Nym still needs to roll the evade. Even if I'm only throwing 2 dice, Nym has an 18.75% chance of evading the attack without a focus. 31.25% with a focus.

*To simplify the math, I'm calculating rolling a single red die, and adding a crit. The numbers should actually be a bit more favorable for the bomber if you calculate it properly.

I once killed a bomber in 1 harpoon shot from Nym, didn't need the condition at all, or a second shot.

This was my list and I placed second at my FLGS store championship on the weekend. I only played one other x-wing based list, which was the most fun. I didn't get matched with any Reapers, which I thought would happen and everything else seemed to be fun lists that people wanted to fly. The combination of stress control with the maneuverability of the T-65 really made for some great games. That was the most fun I had all year.

Depends on what else is with Nym. If it's Nymiranda, the Bomber's dead and there's not a lot he can do about it. Nym expects 2.4 damage from his Harpoon, Miri expects 3.4 from hers, so a lot of the time they'll kill him themselves without any help from the Harpoon condition, bombs, or Sabine. If we're talking Nym + Bob + Ezra, then the Bomber might live long enough to shoot back as it will likely be up to Bob and Ezra to finish him off after Nym and bombs set him to 1-3 health.

All that being said, though, I imagine that, so long as the Bomber got in range to Kylo, it probably doesn't matter. If he dies, his owner just thanks him for his service and PS0's Nym with someone else.

I once lost a phantom to a HWK's primary weapon. No jokes.

Absurd variance happens. It's not something to plan your strategy around

I once killed a cloaked "Whisper" at range three, possibly obstructed, with a hawk primary. It was GLORIOUS!

Placed 2nd with

Norra AO, Rey, BB8, PTL

Kashyyyk Defender: Wookie Commandos

Captain Rex

Roark Garnett plus TLT

Locally, an A-Wing was killed with a single Ion turret blast. Flew onto an asteroid for a damage, then flew off the next into a direct hit.

Anyhow, I think I've arrived at the first meta I hate. Locally, no one flew triple jumps before the deadeye nerf (or if they did, I just wasn't playing against them yet). We had one Dengaroo guy, but mostly just him. Defenders weren't too bad, since folks often didn't run too much Palp. There was a reasonable amount of FSR before the Biggs nerf. Nym/Miranda I didn't hate too much, partly because I was super into triple TIE/D at the time, and that just eats up 1-agility ships. Ghost/Fenn hasn't really shown up too much, but Ezra/Lowhh/[fill] lists were around somewhat.

But these **** X-Wings.

Of the four lists I flew against at the first local SC (11 players, and technically there was an earlier one, but the store never told anyone...:P) all four were 4-ship Rebel swarms. Three lists had a pair of Crack Shot Cavern Angel Zealots. Two had Wes Jansen. At least the Flight Assist BTL-A4 TLT Y-Wings were a little different, but it's still mass FAA. The winner (I didn't play him) had two CAZ (one had Selflessness instead of Crack Shot, so at least that's variety) and Wes Jansen along with Jess Pava.

Bah.

I've got half a mind to switch to TrajSim Nym/Crimson Spec for the next one. Anyhow, I'm super glad Flight Assist Astromech isn't making the trek to 2.0.

This fascinates me, because from my point of view that's a dream tournament. Or at least, I'd prefer being asked to play 4 games against Rebel swarms over being asked to play a single game against Ghost/Fenn, Nymiranda, or any 100-point Ace.

Some was luck of the draw. Eleven lists. There was one Imperial, one Scum, nine Rebel lists, of which five were FAA lists. I played four of those five. But beyond luck of the draw, probably the least variety in any tournament I've been to.

I dunno. Some of this is just me being cranky. But I'm still glad that a lot of this won't be possible in 2e. X-Wing prices go up enough, as do droid prices. Regen is generic, but it costs attacks, so it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Now that it’s confirmed that the triple Defender list is dead in 2nd, so I may get out my classic triple for a last fling.

Ryad: VI, TIE mkII, x7
2x Glaive: Adpt, TIE mkII, x7

Simple, and all 3 are PS7, so I can choose who moves and fires first. My history with it has always been middling successful with it, but I’m only a mediocre player, so that is probably my skill rather than the list.

I went undefeated with:

Dash Rendar: Lone Wolf, Outrider, HLC, Rey, Smuggling Compartment/Rigged Cargo Chute.

Poe Dameron (ps9): VI, R2-D2, Advanced Optics, Black One, Autothrusters.

The only list that gave me any trouble was Jess/Norra/Lowhrrick.

I got 3-0 (really only 2-0, as I was "lucky" enough to get the first-round Bye) and 1st in a small SC tournament with 2x Scarif Base Pilot, Whisper.

I beat five Rookie Pilots, barely, in a game that went down to the last shot. (3 naked vs. 2 naked on a 1 Hull Rookie; I rolled 2 hits, he rolled 1 evade.)

Then I beat two Crack Angels, two Snap-Crack A-wings, and AP-5 (OpSpec). I made two great moves with Whisper to seal this one: the first (and most important) was avoiding two blocking A-wings to kill AP-5 and that @$%# OpSpec.

I also got super lucky, because it had been announced before the tournament started that we'd only play a fourth round if there were two 3-0 players. The other 2-0 player was playing Ghost/Fenn, which would have mauled me -- get it, get it? -- but he lost on the last round to two miracle shots: three natural crits, then two natural crits and a focus. He had 6 Hull left but, as expected with 5 crits, pulled a Direct Hit.

So I was the sole 3-0 and squeaked out the win. (This was my eighth SC since I started entering tournaments in 2014, and I've won at least one SC in every year. It's nice to have kept the streak alive in the twilight of 1.0.)

I took a list last weekend that I normally wouldn't really take, but decided in the name of helping those going to Nationals... I'd learn them a thing or two about imperial lists.

RAC - Kylo, Palp, VI, Engine, Dauntless
Vermeil - VI, Krennic, LWF, Title, ISB Slicers

First round I made a bad decision early on and got 100-0'd by a Corran, Wookie w/draw their fire, and Sheathipede. Ended up moving RAC through the field and forgot how much stress sucks.

Second round bye

Third round vs a friend that had VI QD, Omega leader with stealth, and VI Backdraft. SF's had missles. I managed to one round OL with RAC alone (super lucky shot) and it went downhill for him from there. 100-0 and 2-1

Fourth round up against Nymranda: he 100-0'd me, but the game was a TON closer than that shows. I made an error when I nicked a rock with an ionized RAC, to not shoot for 2 turns. Straight. Had I not nicked said rock it was all mine. But, this fella learned more how to deal with imperials and is actually headed to nationals. Good luck all you guys out there, he's fierce!

I'll be able to go to my last Store champs of the season and am going to take a list I love to fly: Duchess, Fel, and Whisper, all at PS9. I'll see what I can do to give me a competitive chance, but mostly I just wanna FLY!

I placed 3rd in a 9 person SC, going 3-1. Loss was due to points. I would have done better if I had decided to take a range 1 shot earlier in the game with Asoka instead of trying to maneuver for a next round bomb drop.

"Crimson Specialist": Bomblet Generator, Trajectory Simulator, Advanced Optics, Deflective Plating, Crossfire Formation

Crimson Squadron Pilot: Thermal Detonators, Ordnance Silos, Trajectory Simulator, Advanced Optics, Deflective Plating, Crossfire Formation

Ahsoka Tano: Veteran Instincts, Captured Tie, Sabine's Masterpiece, Sabine Wren, Proximity Mines, Scavenger Crane

For whatever reason this list fascinates me. Really cool.

Most players don't know how to counter it. Throughout the day, I killed a Duchess, Ryad, Quickdraw, The Inquisitor, and Fenn with only 1 point of shooting damage on each. I have played variations of this list 30+ times, changing out the B/SF load-outs and changing the 3rd ship around. It has 7 losses with only 1 time (Falcon/Outrider) being completely removed from the board.
