True 2.0 autospawn is not yet present (as no one has any idea on export capabilities of the app/website from FFG) so I had to rely on time consuming hard-coding of proxy squads. Some of that work is reusable for the future, a good part isn't.

The good news is that a great lot of legwork for 2.0 has also been done (some of it not directly featured in this one). The biggest thing that was added was medium sized ship behavior with its: movements, collision detection and backtracking, template overlap detection, token drops, repositioning, repositioning overlap detection. For all the details, again, read the link above.

As usual, download from the github website for the next few days.

Is 8.05 still usable for those not intending to use 2e content for now?

You should still get 8.0.8 - it makes the first edition 100% complete since it adds the last gfx for the last condition cards and tokens. There's also the pesky tallon roll 1 right shortcut bug fix you'll want.

The 1st edition will always be playable alongside the 2nd.

And yeah, I realised after I posted that that tallon roll bug meant I wanted the new one regardless.

How does one spawn the 2nd edition squads in the new module?

I'm pretty stoked to finally try this out myself. Please report how it goes here (positives or negatives) - I didn't have much time to test it extensively.

I almost put in a major change inside this one: ships that can only be selected if you hold shift as an anti-accidental nudge tech, but it's so weird having that extra step after half a decade of habits ingrained; plus, a normal left click that can't nudge needs to do something useful that works for us - it'll be the mouse interface that I've dreamed about.

Yeah, I had trouble spawning a YASB squad yesterday. I thought it was his website backend which caused the delay somehow, but if you report the same....

A workaround is to use the Export to JSON feature in YASB and paste that in vassal, it'll work instantly and perfectly again.

Asteroids are in their own Obstacles tab.

Patch notes / New features / 4th item:

The debris still appears in the chits window as well, just FYI
