How Many Copies of Rebel Commandos?

By BenBot, in Star Wars: Legion

Hey All, I was just wondering how many copies of the Rebel Commandos people were planning to buy and field.

Is it worth it to get more than one box?

Anyone planning on running (3) full groups?

Since you can basically run 2 units out of one box (one "normal" and one weapons team) I plan to buy only a single pack. If/when they prove their usefulness, the second pack is not out of the question. And third, if either version will be good enough ;)

I've preordered 2, the same as I did for troopers.

I think 2 full squads would already be a lot for these specialised units.

It'll be interesting to see how effective the small teams are as well.

I'm going for a full squad and weapon team. Any more would:

a) potentially be replaced with whatever comes out in early 2019.

b) necessitate grounding my airspeeder. I love it just too darn much.

I'm hoping we'll get a preview soon with pricing for the heavy weapons to equip the small Strike Team.

I've preordered one set, but might have room in my current preferred list to fit in two Strike Teams depending on upgrade costs.

Ill pick up a pair of them. Ive made it a habbit of 2 of every troop unit expansion so far. Han will be a single purchase due to the sculpt.

I am not a rebel player in Legion, so zero. :)

However, I plan to purchase exactly one scout trooper pack, as they are the closest Imperial analogue forthcoming. If that helps in the decision process.

Preordered one as I want to see how effective the two-man unita are before I purchase a second. They would honestly have to be stupid broken for me to even think of getting a third.

I'm also in the "one" camp. Partially as the single box allows me to field both the full squad and the weapons detachment, and partially as I don't want to buy multiples without determining their usefulness/seeing what else is competing for the Special Forces army slots.

I got two so that I could have a small strike with the sniper + a full squad with the sniper >_> hopefully the sniper turns out to be good!

As with Fleeties, 1 unit until I ascertain their usefulness and then possibly a 2nd.

You could always proxy single models prior to duplicate purchasing.

It’s hard to say before we see what the heavy options do. I think more than one unit (or a strike team and one unit) is going to be too expensive points wise to justify.

2 of them, if nothing esle for two heavy weapon teams. Also I get some more parts for conversions

I just want to run 3 sniper squads...I might see if I can get parts of it instead of buying 3 boxes.

Probably 3, but I'm weird like that. I own 2 T-47s.

1 for now

Zero as I too play Imperial. Other than two core, I only plan to get one of anything Imperial until they prove out their costs (both dollars and points). I would not buy more than one if they were too OP either (less fun for my opponent).

I'll pick up two in the hopes that charges are good.

Two.

Definitely replacing those stupid ATRT's with commandos.

Well, the AT-RTs and commandos are different types of units, so not truly interchangeable. The laser tower is a more direct exchange for an AT-RT (both Support units). Of course, nothing requires you to have a support unit.

I will likely get one set of commandos to start out (as that basically gives me two commando units I can use). Very likely will get a second set down the line, in case I want to run two sniper teams or play a Grand Army game or some other scenario.

Oh i know, but i pretty much only use ATRTs right now for some alternate firepower.

ATRTs are hot garbage. 30pts more than rebel troopers and have a habit of doing HALF the damage if even that before they die, since they are overall just as easy to kill as a squad of rebel troopers. No def surge white die = you are basically relying on armored to survive, except everything just happens to roll a crit or have impact2-3 anyway or both. They die all the time to 2-3 DLTs the instant they are in range, or at minimum become Damaged and end up being useless fodder at that point (i swear red defense dice only roll a surge for me when i am rolling on teh damage chart)
