Poe Vs Vader

By bizarro1, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi all,

I've spent a few hours looking for the answer but can't find one, so sorry if this has been bought up before.

So say I'm playing Vader at ps 11 and my opponent is playing Poe/bb8/black one at ps11. I make sure he gets initiative so I move after him. Obviously Vader needs to TL Poe to use the upgrades to the maximum but with black one it says he can remove a TL after a boost or barrel roll.

My question can he just remove my TL once I put it on him. Which is after he has done his moves/actions? or can he only remove it when when its his turn?

Thanks for any help.

Matt

He can only remove it after rolling or boosting. Which means before he does anything else.

So only on his turn. If he has in it you're fine.

Ok thanks for the info.

Perhaps as a more complete answer...

Black One allows the equipped ship to remove one target lock from a friendly ship - himself OR an ally - after the equipped ship performs a boost or barrel roll action. Normally, those actions can only happen during the activation phase, either due to a special effect (such as BB-8 or Flight Assist Astromech) or a traditional action (Perform Action Step or another ship's Coordinate). This means, if Poe has initiative over Vader, he has to strip a target lock BEFORE Vader's activation. While this means it's very hard to KEEP a target lock on him (as he may well strip your target lock from the previous turn), any NEW target lock will almost always be in place for that particular combat round. A drawback, to be sure, because you won't be able to REALLY abuse Vader's double actions if you consistently have to devote one to re-acquiring a target lock... but still better than nothing at all.

Simly Put

Set dials

Poe moves

Poe Boosts or Barrel rolls and removes a TL from himself or a friendly ship at range 1 (if there is one)

Vader moves

Vader TL's and focus for maximum power!

Vader shoots Poe eats the crit from Advance Targeting Computer Poe Dies

Thank you for the help.

If he do that, it means Vader do not arc dodge, good luck surviving like that.

Vader have 5 versus the six life of Poe. Poe can reverse move and still have his focus effect, Vader will have only is lock from previous turn.

Poe having modif on defense and on offense make it way more likely that Poe will be successfull.

Even if Vader try to arc dodge using his two actions, he will have unmodified 2 dice attack versus 2 dice modified defense.

Vader is clearly the under dog there. Poe is not garanteed a win, but he soft counter Vader even without BB-8, with R2-D2, the regen will make it a pain for Vader.

Edit: And there is the Authtruster effect that make it so range 3 attack are worst for Vader.

valid points, cheers.

As with most things in xwing then, FFG let the rebels win.

Rebel scum.

Keep in mind that optics Poe with VI is 41w/BB or 43w/Artoo, while Vader's most expensive VI build with a harpoon missile is only 39. According to the point values, in a on on one fight Poe should have the edge.

Yes, but whatever the point of their respective build, the answer stay the same, I would not bet on the outcome I quoted:

I'd have to agree, generally. Assuming Poe has initiative over Vader (if it's the other way around, Vader's in a lot of trouble), Vader will need to do some very clever flying, and manage range/arc very carefully. If he can avoid getting targeted, then he'll be in good shape. If not, one or two good attacks from Poe will decide the match in the Resistance's favor.
