Snowtrooper scheme ideas

By Spinnaker, in Painting

Commanders,

I am about to paint two squads of snowtroopers, but I can't settle on a color scheme and would like your opinions. I am for sure using a mix if white scar white and uthuan grey for the armor. For the cloak and body glove I am torn between dawn stone and a wash with nuln oil black or screaming skull with agrax wash brown. the theme is green and forest, so the strict hoth theme isnt a must. Look forward to your thoughts

I guess I am going with a Galactic Marine (?) approach. Mostly red with black chest/gauntlet/glove, with some white added in. My unit is primed and waiting for paint. I do like the non-traditional approach is some cases, just not the real extreme ones.

I'm doing a Forest theme as well for my snowtroopers. They aren't done yet but I'll include a photo here if that helps with your ideas. If your'e doing that white with the Ulthuan gray (from what I understand it's a faint green) it may be nice to do some darker cloak and clothes. That will make that armor really stick out and could look really nice. Something like Caliban Green or a slightly darkened Mechanicus Standard Grey might look pretty awesome.

I went standard stormtrooper white for the armor and AP Ash Grey for the cloth bits. Worked pretty well. Easy to distinguish from the stormies and very terrain neutral.

I'm a first time painter and I've been pretty intimidated by the prospect of deviating from canon appearances for my armies... Until I opened my snowtroopers. Canon snowtroopers don't really fit the look or feel of my table, but I love how they play. So I leaned in on the Imperial army look of General Veers... I'm just going to refer to them as shock troops, or maybe like an Imperial 'Guards' infantry.

Anywho, insert 'novice' and 'work-in-progress' disclaimers, but I've been plenty inspired by the painting forum and may as well add what I'm working on.

Those look nice! Reminds me of the mud troopers in Solo

My plan for when i get them is either dark blue for armour and grey for fabric or different shades of grey for fabric/armour
