Daredevil in 2e

By thomedwards, in X-Wing

Daredevil in 2e says: While you perform a white boost action, you may treat it as red to use the 1 left turn or 1 right turn template instead.

So, I wonder if you get to try both the bank and turn templates. If the turn doesn’t fit, will you get to use the bank or will you lose the action? Can you try the turn but simply change your mind and use the bank?

My guess is since it’s a “may” you will be able to try both. Just thinking out loud...

Rule Nazis, go!

edit: sorry for the huge text! On an iPad, and not sure what happened.

you choose which template to use. If the action fails, you don't get another action. By putting a template on the board, you have chosen to use that template.

This.

Now, my wet dream for Daredevil is on Guri, combining advanced sensors pre move action with a Daredevil boost triggered by Afterburners.

Perform action, execute a 3-5 speed followed by a 90 deg boost which can land you in good out of arc positions. Add focus token from r1 and/or calculate token from IG-88A. Throw in coordinate pre or post move curved barrel roll if you want to go overboard on manouver shenanigans.

Probably not practical but very Starviper-y, thus mega cool. :)

Don’t wanna spoil the fun, but it doesn’t look like that’s gonna work. I think the consensus is that the Advanced Sensors in Saw’s is a misprint; the for realsies copy we’ve seen previewed adds in “you may not perform another action this activation,” which prevents linking actions as well as things like Afterburners.

That said, Daredevil AdvS Guri still seems real frickin scary. You can boost, DD, or curvy barrel roll before you move, all at I5, and potentially still get a focus. That’s some pretty insane maneuverability, even without the added shenanigans.

Ok, so less fun-tastic but still very slippery with AdvS and Daredevil. I guess afterburners will be pricey too.

Iguess we could do what I mention by using coordinate for the premove action instead of AdvS. E.g. Palob with sq leader, as the hwk290 also has boost in 2.0 you could preboost or postboost with afterburners and also do one more action (+focus if r1). Guri is going to reward skill and be so much fun.
