No I get what you are saying but there would be 0 fundamental difference besides the enclosed ships. They did it before to start kind of a soft reboot. There is no reason to do that now. I still say they should have not included ships at all. Charge $10 for it and make sure people understood this isn’t a complete experience. Ships are not hard to find and you could even offer a $40 bundle that would include 3 small base ship packs. The core should be only that, just rules, dice, damage deck and templates. Thats it. Everything else can be had in ship packs.

Rebel: YT-2000

Scum: Class-A through Class-L containers (except Class-J, which will be saved for epic)

Resistance: Landing shuttle

First Order: Missile boat

I think the Resistance should have something about bravery and perseverance. Dauntless, perhaps? Though that gets confusing because of the Decimator title. Maybe Effortless to portray the skill of their star pilots?

Merciless or Mirthless could work for the First Order. Countless would be a great swarm Talent, but that fits the Galactic Empire better, I think. Reckless to represent their fanaticism? Weariless?

(Forgive me if this had already been discussed; I haven't seen it yet).

Honestly, for the nature of the pilots leading them, I would say “Reckless” might be a good actual option for the Resistance. It is a trait Poe showed numerous times.

Give the First Order “Heartless”. Ren killed is father, and the first order doesn't care about any collateral damage

I'm pretty sure the Resistance should have heartless, if they keep old man Han that is.

Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to “make sure people understand”. Almost nothing is sold in this manner. And this requires the consumer to read more than “Star Wars” on the box.

Imagine someone new to the game but has *no* idea about how expansions work. They buy the starter, open it up, then find they can’t play.

Imagine the starter as a gift. “My nephew likes Star Wars! I’ll ger him this!” Same end result.

Plus, the devs have made it clear they want the core to be self-sufficient. The escalation format and the related Covenant video prove that.
