Yeah, yeah, we haven't gotten Wave 1 yet, but let's dig into this! What do you guys think we'll get in 2.0? With Wave 1 giving us 2 ships per faction and assuming they'll continue that trend at bare minimum to pump out 2.0 versions of existing ships as fast as possible, I'm thinking the Rebels will get their Falcon and the A-Wing, the Imperials the TIE Interceptor and Lambda, and we know Scum will get their Lando's Falcon, so my bet will be the Starviper.

Ideally, I hope we get 3 per faction... so, add on the TIE Bomber, B-Wing, and Starviper to my list.

Should be three ships per faction to keep the balance with wave 1, so I would expect to see the Upsilon and the Resistance Bomber too. New A-Wing might also be replaced by the Reaistance Falcon, but that would mean the Rebels don’t have a Falcon (outside conversion kits) and two other factions do. It would also mean no new ships in the wave, and I expect every wave to have at least one ship we’ve not seen before.

I think Upsilon and Resistance Bomber will be in a "heavy wave" : Each faction will have a large ship :

I think the Resistance should have something about bravery and perseverance. Dauntless, perhaps? Though that gets confusing because of the Decimator title. Maybe Effortless to portray the skill of their star pilots?

Merciless or Mirthless could work for the First Order. Countless would be a great swarm Talent, but that fits the Galactic Empire better, I think. Reckless to represent their fanaticism? Weariless?

It's kinda hard to predict without knowing more about the intended release cycle.

Wave 2 is obviously going to be focused primarily on converting Resistance and First Order ships, but what comes after that?

Will future waves feature two releases for all five factions? One ship per faction?

Will waves alternate between OT and ST content? If so (and that seems more likely given how little ST content there currently is) how many ships per faction should we expect? For the OT content, two each seems to be the pattern established by Wave 1 (although Lando's Falcon complicates that).

I think the best way to try and predict might be to assume the following:

Wave 2 will be entirely ST - Resistance and First Order conversion kits, new dial upgrades, and standalone expansions for the T-70, Bomber, Upsilon, /fo and /sf. They could delay the /sf to release alongside a new RZ-2 A-Wing, but frankly I don't see the point. There's so little current ST content that they may as well just re-release it all in one go.

After Wave 2, we'll see an alternating pattern of OT re-releases and new ST content (though possibly in an AAB AAB style of recurrence).

OT re-releases will match the precedent established in wave 1 of being two ships per faction and broadly match the original release order, where possible (obviously Scum has been completely reordered as it's there from the start and not having to play catch up).

So after all that, my prediction for the next OT re-release wave (probably wave 3):

Rebels :

A-Wing

Millennium Falcon

Imperials:

TIE Interceptor

Lambda shuttle

Scum:

Star Viper

Aggressor (IG-200)

I wonder if we will get a most wanted style pack for both the Resistance and First Order. At this point there is no need for a core set.

A fleet starter box might be a good idea, especially if it includes all the cards.

I suspect that we will get Poe’s x-wing and a regular X-wing as seperate releases, but not as a core set.

100% agree that it would be very weird to have a second core set already. At most I could see a most wanted pack with the 3 ships that were in the core and none of the templates etc but with the need for conversion kits anyway I don't see how it'd make any sense. Probably just going to be a expansion pack wave

As a broad counterpoint, the product page doesn’t list ‘Wave 1’ anymore, it breaks the ships out by faction (the same way that Legion does). I don’t think we’ll be getting waves AT ALL in 2nd edition, more like a rolling release schedule.

Next new ship prediction: Resistance A-Wing (so the resistance has more than 3 ships).

Well, since 2.0 is currently centred around Rebels/Empire, I don't think we will be getting any FO/Resist. till next year.

To be successful, 2.0 needs new players.

Existing players paid for core/conver. but will be less inclined to buy new ships of something they have 4 of already (plus pay more).

So, FFG needs new players to buy 2.0 ships. It doesn't help the system to muddy the waters with 2 other factions at this point.

Best focus on getting iconic ships out there. A-wing, B-wing, Z-95, K-wing, Interceptors, Defenders, Bombers, ...

Once this version has success, they will focus on the other factions and epic ships.

Existing players are not the target audience for 2.0, most have already spent their money.

FFG will get a slight boost in profit from conversion sales, but less from expansion rereleases.

To be successful and have a future, X-wing needs new blood.

So, wave 2 will be

Empire (interceptor/defender/bomber)

Rebel (A/B/K/E wing)

Scum (Z-95/M3-A/Kihraxz/Y-wing/Starviper)

Then the announcement of both conversion kits for the Resistance & First Order; which would be released in Wave 3, and the inclusion of a New Republic/Separtist factions which will preview the new Clone Wars core set.

I highly doubt we will get a ST core set until the Episode IX merchandise blitz happens.

Considering we are getting Lando's Falcon, and nothing else new for the other factions, I do think "waves" will look different than 1.0.

I do think the FO and Resistance conversion kits will be out before the end of the year.

IMO, Ruthless should have been the scum upgrade, (betray your friends for bonuses!) Fearless should have been the First order upgrade, (suicidal flying for bonuses!) Empire should have "Limitless" or "Countless", with a reverse of the escalation mechanic- if it dies, a generic with no upgrades comes in to replace it. And Dauntless sounds good for Resistance, with some kind of defensive mechanic.

Yeah they said people don’t need to buy off faction but we all know that is a lie without patience, in some cases serious patience. Are they keeping a second damage deck, really dumb idea btw, aside from the different ships I see no reason to make a second core.

For news players who want to play with Resistance or First Order ? Especially since we separate the faction.

Or may be this Poe Dameron's X-Wing ? Since no more aces packs will be made and since they did a Red 5 variant for the core set and a regular X-Wing for the expansion that would be a way to include this ship and since the devs did that it's not a dumb idea

You know not everyone have this ship on their collection,if you don't like others peoples will may be like this and take the box

What do we know? Well the Devs have said that the ST era conversion sets will be in Wave 2, so I imagine we will get those and likely 2 expansions for them to follow the mold of the other factions in wave 1. The question though is if they will do a ST era core set with Poe's X-Wing this time featuring 'Flappy-Tech' or if they will try to push it the fancy X-wing into the conversion set along with the FO getting something in theirs to help bump up the price of those conversion sets.

As for the other factions I imagine that they either get lowballed to have 1 new expansion or they will get 2 rereleased expansions. At present, not counting the conversion sets, we have it where the Rebels and Imperials have 2 ship options while Scum has 3.

Moving forward I'd love to see PT era factions, however, I suspect they might not want to expand the line that much at this point since it splits their market a bit. Besides, Wave 2 is clearly going to be pushing hard for ST stuff, and Gencon next year might be used to drum up excitement for releases tied to the show or Episode 9 rather than taking away any attention away from the big event film. If we are to see Clone Wars stuff, I think the earliest we'd see it would be the year after episode 9, of course I'd love to be proved wrong here.
