I really like the quick build pilot cards from the Gen Con article with the upgrades built in. Is there any reason they could not replace the text only cards from the pack with these?

Well, everything is probably already printed and packaged and being loaded into ships by now. Plus, looks like most of the QB cards in the core set have 2 different builds on them, while the promo ones only have 1 (unless their front and back?), so it would use up more cards from the sets allotment.

Going forward? No real reason why not.

Other than having something new to give away in tournament kits

Quick build cards list like 3 ships on each card. So that'd be three different cards instead of one.

If they do these as a pack I would definitely purchase them. It would also remove the restriction of having to use upgrades that are in the ship pack.
