Questions for Basatan

How does Red Tide work. Specifically I am confused by the black movement part. "Aquatic monsters move on black to the nearest aquatic location." Does that mean whenever a Mythos card is drawn showing the monsters symbol, that the monster will move in the above mentioned way only if its symbol is in the black part?

Also it states if a location already has an aquatic marker on it then place one aquatic marker in the location's streets and raise the terror level. I assume if the street is flooded then you just ignore that. Or does the next street get flooded?

Just so you don't have to search for the herald here

I'm pretty sure move on black means nothing, unless there's an investigator adjacent to the aquatic monster that can be reached by a move on black. I think. VEET! ;') ****, he can't hear me when I shout.

I played and translated it as "teleport to the closest aquatic location". I thought that was an english expression I had not heard about.

As for the flooded a third time this does not happen very often, does it ? ;o) I think I ignored the flooding then. But Veet can certainly give a better answer.

I'm 95% sure you ignore flooding if the adjacent street is already flooded.

It means that when they move and they cannot move using aquatic movement they move on the black path. The intended effect is they run to an aquatic location and squat there waiting to attack an investigator. Perhaps some rephrasing is in order I remember we nitpicked the wording to death there, originaly I had them just telleporting to an aquatic location if they couldn't attack.

Yeah ignore the second flood.

By the way, photobucket says that Basatan has been linked somewhere on Board Game Geek I can't find where. Anyone else know?

Teleport seems much more simple. Why did you want them to move on the black path ? If there is no flooded street (which happens on a second monster surge on the same location rarely), then aquatic monster do nothing more to the game, do they ?

I am confused now...

The herald specifies they will move to an aquatic location, meaning they will duck into a location from the street if it's flooded. The stipulation about moving black was just so they wouldn't wander aimlessly they would follow the circut until they found water.

OK, let's summarize what I understood (in case of no prey by either normal or aquatic move):

1- if there is an adjacent aquatic area, they duck into it.

2- If not, they move on black.

3- if they are on an aquatic area they do not move (wait for a prey).

Is this correct ? If yes, then I shall change my translation (and you may think of potentially make this more clear on the english version :-)

Why did you finally reject the teleport move ?

It looks simpler and easy enough to handle, no?

It would then turn the game into a fight against aquatic teleporters as opposed to enhancing aquatic as an ability. I'm not saying it couldn't work, but... It would be more of a departure than normalcy. Basically it was designed to allow aquatic monsters to eventually make it to water as opposed to making all water spaces dangerous. I think. I'm not sure. Ask Veet :')

Point taken. It makes sense after all :-)

Wait for Veet answer though

Avi is correct, and yes amikezor your summary is correct.

Great. I will correct the french version then :-)? Thank you for the clarification.
