FFG definitely has a schedule to balance out the teams, with 3 commanders, 2 operatives, 3 elites, 3 corps, 2 support, and 2 heavies.

Rebels need 2 operatives, probably chewie and either the rogue 1 crew or the Ghost crew, elites in either wookie warriors, Royal guard, or ewoks, hoth troopers, and taun taun rider pair as heavies.

Imperials need another Operative in mayne Krennic or an Inquisitor, death troopers in elites, fleet troopers in corps, and dewback riders in heavy.

Past that, I have no clue what they would do. Add epic models like an ATAT? expand the gane size to finally be at 1,000? Add strafing runs from starfighters?

What makes you say "definitely?" I've seen nothing that indicates these are the exact numbers they want for each unit type. In fact some of the comments from Alex Davy lead me to believe they are going to pump out a lot of familiar characters as commanders and operatives.

She is firmly Legends (so far anyway). The RotJ radio drama was produced in 1996, and incorporated elements of the EU. No adaptations of the films are considered canon as far as I know.

I have no idea why, but I really want Ewoks as well. I think that even people who hate Ewoks should want them in the game as they will be like gretchin in 40k, dying by the bucket loads in glorious fashion.

Some sort of terrain affecting or trap laying ability would be awesome. Trap fodder.

I haven’t played the game myself, but even as an longtime Ewok fan, the footage I’ve seen of Battlefront II’s ‘Ewok Hunt’ mode is hilarious.

Having played Ewok Hunt (and even escaped a couple of times as a Stormtrooper) it was quite fun... and quite stressful! ?

I'm not saying the units wont exceed what i have in my previous post, but when the force organization specifies 1-2 commanders, 0-2 operatives, 3+ corps, 0-3 support, and 0-2 heavies, i would assume they would give you options to fill all of those up. It's what i would do at least.

They will give us at least 2 operators apiece to fill the slots since they'll most likely be unique, imperials and rebels have counterparts already released, hoth troopers and fleet troopers are given, and no one likes having only 1 option in heavies. FFG has shown that they like variety in their slots.

Anything past that is just gravy.

In Legends there was a great comic set on Bespin about that. Vader's the reason why Chewie got Threepio's parts back

I am an Imperial player and would not like to see this ability, I think that would be too OP, but I would be open to 'replacing' Chewie with a rebel controlled AT-ST (provided by the Rebel player). That would give an Imperial player pause...

It would be cool to have a 'slice' keyword that Chewie or Bothan Spies or something would have that would let them mess with vehicle activation.

Seeing as that effectively gives the Rebel player a 400+ point advantage (if it works of course), that would be INCREDIBLY swingy and unfun. Either it works and now the Rebel player is highly favoured to win, or it doesn't work and now all of the points tied up in Chewie (and he would have to cost a LOT to justify a "steal your opponent's AT-ST" ability, let alone any other effect) were wasted.

I prefer @Bohemian73's suggestion of being able to use Chewie as a pilot upgrade for an AT-ST, allowing one to be included in the Rebel army IF FFG chooses to represent that. I'd also be fine with them ignoring it for the purposes of game balance/differentiating the factions.

I am really looking forward to playing a double-commander, double-operative rebel list. To me that really evokes the conflicts you see in the fiction - fewer plucky heroes fighting against waves of Stormtroopers, running and hiding from AT-STs and taking terrible risks to achieve their objective.

Chewbacca is most likely expected to be next but who expected Palpatine already. FFG has been known to throw a curve ball and mix things up.

Look at Imperial Assault. After Jabba's Realm EVERYONE assumed we were getting a small box expansion for Endor and that Ewoks were coming. We got Prequel Era instead taking us to Coruscant and introducing Palpatine, Maul, and Ahsoka. It was also back to back Big Box Expansions. Now we are getting Star Wars Rebels and finishing out the Ghost crew since we got Hera and Chopper with the release of Jawas and 0-0-0 & BT-1. FFG has yet to finish the Original Trilogy timeline for Imperial Assault.

I would love for Yoda to finally make it to an FFG game but if Yoda does come he will most likely be Prequel Era Yoda with Wookie Warriors. It is inevitable that we will get Chewie but don't be surprised if we got Lando with a squad of wing guards. Maybe even Rieekan with Hoth troopers. I would like to see Admiral Ackbar and a squad of Sullust troopers or maybe even Wedge Antilles with a squad of Rebel Pilots.

The rebels have quite a few characters to introduce as opposed to the Empire since Vader force choked anyone who didn't succeed in capturing our rebel heroes. Anyone and anything Star Wars is fine with me.

I am honestly and impatiently waiting for droids to be introduced to the game. They mentioned them in the guide and they will hopefully show up in the game.

@C3POFETT While Chewie may not be the next expansion, it would make sense for FFG to release an Operative for the Rebels. Thus far, FFG has strived to keep the slots equal between the two factions. Lando seems like more of a Commander. Other Operative options would (imho) include Jyn Urso, some members of the Ghost's Crew, and some other characters I can't recall right now from video games, books, and comics.

To be frank though, everyone was expecting Krennic + Deathtroopers because thats sorta similar to Han + Rebel Commandos.

However, Krennic/DTs are not original trilogy and so far thats been all the releases. They could have added Tarkin instead but FFG has a hardon for Palpy and he makes slightly more sense than Tarkin to be on the surface of a planet.

Chewie is still OT character and makes total sense to exist. Really all the rebels have left big character-wise are admirals and random pilots via the OT.

If Krennic would have been a counter for Han then who is the counter for Boba Fett and the scout troopers?

In the Clone Wars series they did have Grand Moff Tarkin planetside for an episode or two. I know it doesn't fall into the appropriate time line but that is my argument for really wanting to see Admiral Ackbar. Both of them had to start somewhere and I am sure both would be just as effective on the ground as on a battle cruiser/space station. Both would be prone to calling in air strikes.

Rebels have no Boba analog until they dive into Rebels, because Sabine would basically be the same thing. Less straight damage but more shenanigans involving boombooms, otherwise the same.

Its more to keep the slots equal than anything else. That much they HAVE been doing between the two factions, and currently Imps are up 1 Op and 1 Elite slot to rebels, which points towards Chewie (since he makes 0 sense as a commander). It doesnt point towards wookie warriors since they never had screentime in the OT but we knew they existed, so that one is up in the air imo

They are trying to go mostly OT, but they pulled AT-RTs to give Rebels a sensible support slot. I wouldn’t be surprised if they went wookies as an analogue to IRG, given how present they are in the rest of the canon.

They could, or they could pull in the Rebel Honour Guard which does make a (brief) appearance in the OT. And it would tie into Chewie because it's the scene where he was slighted and didn't get a medal ?.

Too bad about the unit number restrictions, would be great to field an all Ewok army! ?

I am fully intending to house-rule and convert this very thing. Hang-gliders, Endoran pony cavalry, and catapult. Maybe even Erpham Warrick’s battle wagon if I feel like going crazy. ?

I would be pleased as punch if ewoks and Chewbacca were next. For rebel forces I tentatively plan on collecting Hoth and mostly-ewoks-Endor, assuming ewoks get released in such as way as to make that possible. There is very little else that FFG can sell me for Legion other than ewoks, dewbacks, a complete 800 point Tusken Raider army, and Hoth rebels with an emphasis on tauntauns if those are released in a way which makes that possible.

Maybe they could also sell me a Gamorrean guard/Rancor force to eat the Tusken Raiders... Dewback riders gallop in to restore order to the dessert...

Plentiful ewok SKU's are about the only thing which might induce me to buy Han and Leia in their current costumes. Chewbacca's just good cause I can send him to Hoth without an outfit change. Ditto R2 & 3PO.

This whole thing about trying to read the tea leaves and deduce what will be next though, seems unlikely to last much longer. As time goes on the releases will probably get less and less similar once all the basic gaps are covered.
