Chewie is Next

By AintNoPoser, in Star Wars: Legion

Chewie is a no-brainer for the operative.

I'm figuring Wookie Warriors is a high probability for the next Rebel Spec Ops. When you look at the Royal Guards in comparison, they're both Melee bruiser units. Would make sense for having roughly mirrored unit types between the factions.

And, they were both in Imperial Assault. I'm guessing if it showed up in IA, theres a good chance it'll show up in Legion.

Wicket will be the new operative! Of course!

Ewoks will balance out Royal Guards by having 6 units base, with an option for 8. They will also have Cover 1 as a card ability.

_______

I'm kidding. Really hoping for Chewie and Wookiees. Wooks could balance the melee aspect of Royal Guards with vibroblades. Maybe the extra 4th Work could have a bowcaster.

Of course, FFG has not exactly been doing symmetrical releases. So maybe not Chewie and Wook warriors.

Maybe it will be Chewie and Ewoks, and Ewoks will introduce "zerg rush" ideas.

while i could see R2D2, since hes a disruptive little trashcan on wheels, what the heck would C3P0 possibly contribute? Pointless probability outcomes to distract your own forces?

Knowing the odds in a dice game can be very useful.

"3720 to 1": Friendly units within range 1 can spend Aim tokens as if they are Dodge tokens and Dodge tokens as if they are Aim tokens.

I'm still holding out hope for a Luke-only equipment card called Backpack Yoda. Comes with a 1 pip command card called "Hit in the Head with a Hackeysack"

I have never seen 3P0 be anything other than a hinderance lol

Certainly room for "20% chance he messes up your troops" rule :)

I want to see Ewoks if for no other reason than to see FFG print a card with a ranged weapon named "Rocks and Sticks". :D

Come on now, they had bows and arrows.

That's the range 3 heavy weapon choice. :P

If Chewie+Ewoks, then one of his condition cards is "Logroll Trap"

1pip, 1 Ewok unit only
After assigned Ewok unit finishes their activation, cause an ATST at R1-2 to fall over and explode; roll 5 red attack dice against each unit at R1 of the ATST and suffer any hits/crits rolled.

As long as they get an ability to use that lasso to take out speeders.

Ewok traps: “If any enemy repulsor unit finishes a compulsory move within range 1 of this unit, it immediately suffers damage as if it had been forced to make a partial move.”

Come to think of it, can we get Rebel Troopers some rope?

Wow. I'm totally imagining both of these as doable in a way similar to the Charge Type tokens. They need to be balanced but...

Arm and Detonate Ewok traps?? Yes, please!

If Ewoks come out, AT-ST players be like:

"Ewoks OP! FFG plz nerf!!!"

commandeer

Chewbacca and 1 ewok

when playing this card, If Chewbacca and an ewok that have been issued orders are at R1 of an ATST roll a red attack die. On a hit or a crit remove Chewbacca and the ewok from the board and take the ATST unit from your opponent.

Regarding C-3PO, I recently saw a fan theory that 3PO was unknowingly Darth Vader's sleeper agent. In the spirit of this idea, why not have C-3PO be technically an Imperial unit, but the Imperial player deploys him in the Rebel deployment zone. He moves at speed 1 and cannot be targeted by Rebel forces. In fact, any Imperial unit behind him counts as having heavy cover. He has no attacks, but a clever Imperial player can position him to be in the way of the Rebel player, who will have to try to get around this stupid Droid who they think is on their side.

quite frankly i always found it weird Vader never looked at C3P0 and went "hey....i built you wtf"

Bravo for keeping theme and design crunchy in the same bite. Although it'd be fun to mess with surges or rerolls.

If so, I hope someone makes a sling for their Chewie to carry a dissassembled Threepio in.

To be fair, C3P0 was rebuilt from the spare parts of discarded 3P0 model droids, which in canon were mass produced starting around 112 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin). So presumably there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of 3P0 droids running around the universe.

If you base it on the movies, then it should be Ewoks. Based on IA, it should be Wookies. I play Imperial, but I vote for Wookies.

Clearly, they’ve made a priority of giving us every unit they can squeeze out of the OT before moving on to other sources. Already we’ve got, at least in the pipeline, everything needed to recreate the Tantive IV boarding, the Battle of Hoth (minus the AT-ATs and Hoth rebel troopers) and the Battle of Endor (minus Chewie and the Ewoks). Thus, I think teddy bear braves bearing flint knives, tomahawks, slings, and tiny bows are more likely than not. Yub nub!

For the battle of Hoth, the rebels had 1.4 FD Laser Cannon (called 1.4 FD P-Tower in Wookieepedia), and the (again according to Wookieepedai for name) DF9 Anti-Infantry Turret. So they could add one more turret to the Rebels as well. The other things that I can think of that are missing Mounted troops (rebels on tauntaun, empire on dewbacks), Sandtrooper, the rest of the bounty hunters, R2-D2 and C-3PO. From the original three (not counting what you already posted) are at least right now what I can come up with for different options that are seen on film. If you go just a bit in to the less official you could add in the likes of Mara Jade and what not.

I expect FFG to turn to Rogue One, Rebels, or other new canon sources rather than any Legends characters. Partly for the brand recognition, and partly because (I think) they need approval from Disney for anything they release. Mara Jade would (likely) be a tougher sell to the license holder than say Dr. Aphra, Jyn Urso, or Hera Syndulla.

Not that I disagree, but was reading that she was included in the radio drama release of Return of the Jedi so not sure where that places her as cannon/legends. One more that they can do (from reading others posts) the probe droid.

Or even the Seventh Sister, who can do what Mara Jade could.
