First ever attempt at designing some lasercut terrain. I'm thinking of putting the files up on Thingiverse if anyone is interested.
Some Notes:
1. I know the door is a Death Star door but meh.
2. The top section of the central command building hasn't been cut from wood yet, photos are of the wooden base with the cardboard prototype on top. The final version the roof is removable and there will be a texture cut into the top side as well as the bottom, which will feature a hatch and possibly a ladder that will slot into the base of the roof. There will also be a removable door with angled sides so it's flush against the angled walls.
3. I haven't finished etching two of the flush-corner pieces.
4. Yes it's designed for 6mm wood/mdf. For some reason there isn't a single place in 4 hours drive near me to acquire anything thinner at a reasonable price, but cheap 1/4 inch wood is everywhere.
So, take a look and let me know what you think!
These are the basic modular pieces. From left to right, top to bottom: 1 - central command building, 2 - large door (I also have a smaller door, differently detailed not shown), 3 - flush corner section, 4 wall extension section, 5 right-angle section (good for putting in a door or an alternative to the flush corners)
This is the full assembled base with all sections and door.
As the sections are somewhat modular, you can make several different shapes. This mini-base was created just using the right-angle sections and the door piece. I've also made a long barricade wall ala Hadrian's.
Not too flashy from behind, but it does the trick. Filled with some scatter terrain I think it might do. The walkways are designed to allow the minis' bases to pushed up into the wall, so the figures can be flush against it.
