Edited by JabbyIs it me or the picture or do the miniatures look a bit strange, not really bad just a tad bit off or strange. I can't really put my finger on it. The guy aiming his stick doesn't really look that good, is it pool night again at Sheev's place?
So now we get only 4 minis instead of 6 for the same price ?!?

They add the same amount of value to gameplay.
Sure plastic is one factor to consider in price. But the entertainment value is what you’re paying for.

2hp each though.
So effectively 8 models rolling 8 dice instead of 6 rolling 6 (they all roll 2 dice)

Which is all well and good if you look at point cost for army building.
But paying the the same amount in $$ for four figures instead of seven? That’s my complaint.
Edited by FSDTrue, but thats standard miniature game practice.
Elite stuff cost more strictly because they know you'll buy less of it anyway.

Hmmm interesting. Legion is my first war game, but I've never had an issue with that. I look at it as buying expansions, and expansions have various content. What you're buying is the ability to play, not a set number of physical things.

Exactly.
The cost of the plastic is actually pretty minor in the end. Even for GW's top quality plastic, youre more buying the design and rules than the plastic.

Im not sure about that? If thats the case, everything should be the same price, even single figures.
Less figures really ought to equate to a lower price. Its not the only factor(cards, IP, transport etc) but it should be a factor in pricing.

And if there were 5 figures in the expansion, I'd be less concerned. I guess I look at the limited choices of unit configuration in this expansion as a little lacking. Run the 3 man unit or add in one additional unit. If I'd gotten another heavy weapon option, I'd have no concerns because the "ability to play" the figures in more varying ways would seem worth the cost.
Maybe this is to balance out the other Special Forces units which I think have an exceptional value at $25 due to the numerous ways to play those expansions. Maybe the value of those expansions are also why I feel a little let down by this one. Who knows.

Electrostaff
immune to pierce in melee
sidearm melee
while performing a melee attack, this - can only use the weapons on this card.
curious why the Electrostaff is weaker than their normal melee.
In melee they normally use 1R1B, but the electrostaff is 2B. Thats a downgrade. For something that can deal with lightsabers thats kinda baffling to think that they are actually inferior in terms of damage.

Trades offense for defense (immune: pierce).

For whatever it's worth, they've also got two of the new Training upgrade slots, which might add some spice to their tactical ability.
Looks like the art for fragmentation grenades features Deathtroopers?? A sign of things to come?
Also, I wonder what frags ability will be. I doubt it is "Pierce," wonder if it is "Suppressive"? That could make sense. Or some new mechanic. Guessing we will find out in the full preview.

It's a pretty trivial downgrade (only reduces expected damage by .25) for a really useful ability. Seems solid.
Edited by MasterShake2oh yeah definitely going from red to black isnt that big a deal, its just still technically a downgrade.
Which, normally would be fine for added defense, but its a LIGHTSABER theyre holding back - theres no way something can hold back a lightsaber and not be super deadly as well.

Maybe it's just harder to use. Afterall it was designed to be used by a droid.

A dagger would not be very effective for deflecting a spear, but a wooden shield is... yet a dagger is more stabby than a shield.

It doesn't look like it has a normal keyword, it has an ability which activates when it is in the attack pool - though obviously we don't know what. Maybe some kind of inherent dice mod?
