"Damaged" and "Repair" keywords in 2.0? Confirmed meanings?

By HanScottFirst, in X-Wing

So, in 2.0, some important keywords:

> "Repair." I believe "repairing a facedown card" means discarding that card completely (IE regen)? While on the other hand,"repairing a faceup card" means simply flipping that card over?

> "Damaged." What does this mean? Do we know for sure? Is it simply having less shields or hull than the full value? IE if I have 2 shields and 4 hull, and I lose one shield, am I "damaged" (even withou having any assigned damaged cards)? Or if I have full shields, and get hit with a faceup card from a proton bomb, am I "damaged?"

Mostly wondering about "damaged" for 2.0 Saw U-Wing and 2.0 Wullffarro. Though I am sure it comes up elsewhere, too.

Based on the cards we’ve seen, I am sure you are correct about repair.

For damaged I am less certain. I would guess it means having a damage card assigned to the ship, shields being irrelevant. We won’t know for sure till we get the rules though.

This seems likely, based on other new key words that we do know the meaning of.

“Focused” = has a focus token

“evading” = has an evade token

etc.

So it is almost certain that “damaged” = has a damage card.

Hmm. Yeah. Damaged must mean a card. Otherwise 2.0 Wullffarro would be too strong.

So run a Y-Wing swarm with Saw U-Wing, and drop a proton bomb on your whole squad right at the start of the game! ;)

Protonbombs deal a crit, not a faceup card now.

There are two keyword sets for damage we've seen so far - shielded/unshielded and damaged/undamaged. Presumably if they want to combine them they will.

When exactly ship is damaged ,after losing shield or being down to hull with damage cards ?

When it has at least one damage card. The rule is on page 8 of the Rules Reference.

Yeah this is definitely spelled out clearly somewhere or other. I don’t have easy access to find the rules right now, but “Damaged” (Saw/Wullff) means “has at least one damage card,” and “Repair” is as you described; flip a crit to be facedown or discard a facedown card.

You can regen a shield via an astromech and still have the damaged condition (thus R2-D2 crew’s popularity on Wullff), and “suffering damage” is different than effects on a “damaged” ship (Hate and Maul crew both allow you to regen force when they suffer damage: in that case, you are suffering a damage for every hit or crit not canceled by evade dice, so losing a shield counts.)

There is also another kind of damage called Ion damage. However unlike tractor beams or jam tokens they stick around.

Damaged is the state of having a damage card on your ship.

Suffering damage is whenever you take a hit or crit, whether on hull or shields.

So damaged is an adjective, while suffering damage is a verb.
