Dude, you don't get it Sanitation duty doesn't mean that he was there sweeping decks it meant he was part of the FO's elite task force meant to 'clean' away problems like pesky Resistance agents or people who didn't bow down to the FO. Finn this whole time has been 007, he was just to humble to admit it....or, perhaps he is playing that long con with the Resistance.

I can only assume this is to make up for a lack of guard rails on said station (clearly a design choice from Galen Erso).
