What should [Fill in Squad] practice against?

By theBitterFig, in X-Wing

Intended to be a general thread for Store Championship season, with folks posting a list, and replies with suggestions of what to practice against.

Lothal Rebel (FCS, Autoblaster, Courier Droid, Chopper) [39]

Lothal Rebel (FCS, Autoblaster, Couier Droid, Ghost) [39]

Ezra Bridger {Sheathipede} (Snap Shot, Hera Syndulla, R3-A2, Phantom II) [22]

Ghosts hit hard and take a long time to die, and have the amazing 5 K-Turn. Ezra f***s stuff up with stress, or coordinates free actions (potentially while protected, too!). He can also do some baller **** with deploying off an unexpected move to Snap up some enemies.

I think I'm 8 or 9 wins, 1 loss with it so far (4 kit tourney wins, 0 tournament losses).

I know I should fly against more 4 and 5 ship X-Wing based lists, but what else? Is there anything that seems like it'd just crush this, so I can get some practice in against that? High-PS Aces maybe?

Pretty much every meta list is something you've got to practice against. Currently I can think of:

Ghost/Fenn. Like the double Lothal List above but with far more staying power and effective attack areas (due to the TLT double tap).

Stress Bunker. Miranda, Strezra and Lowhrick. Tanky and strong in the endgame.

Nym/Miranda. Bombs everywhere, double TLTs and a strong endgame with Miranda.

Control Bots. Double IG-88s with PTL, Advanced sensors and a suite of control upgrades. Won worlds this year, and nobody wins against it on the first try, since they're unbelievably adaptive. Add in that with hot green dice and they're unbeatable and it's a real slog of a match.

Kylo + Friends. Kylo is an endgame monster, and his wingmen have to be shot down first (especially HLC/Harpoon gunboats). Very tricky if you don't have PS 10+ pilots.

Quickdraw + Friends. Cheaper than Kylo, but with much greater early game dominance. Quickdraw has wingmen that increase that early game power, like harpoon Nus.

RAClo . The good Admiral has plenty of tricks up his sleeves, and can be built light or fat to accommodate various wingmen. "Easy" to beat with 3 or more ships, but tediously difficult with 2.

5 X-Wings (or 4 and buffing support). Massive firepower and hull, combined with adequate manoeuvrability makes this a scary list for other jousters like QD + Friends. Bombs and/or kiting ships have it easier, but nothing's guaranteed.

ISB Slicer Reapers. Major Vermeil with VI, slicer, LWF and Krennic is popular, alongside a Defender and often the Inquisitor.

Double Reapers . Medly of options. Both typically have slicers, but one may be slicer/krennic and the other Palpatine to super buff an ace like Whisper.

That's about it for the current boogeymen to watch out for. If you list doesn't have a way to at least scrape a victory from these, then you could be in trouble with random swisse pairings.
