Pattern Analyzer debris

By Slade, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi there. I wanted to play around with Pattern Analyzer before 2.0 hits but ran into some questions.

I have a ship equiped with Pattern Analyzer. It flies over (or onto) a debris could. I undestood that the ship will be able to perform its action and receive a stress from the debris cloud.

This would also be the case if my ship executes a green maneuver. It its a red maneuver it would received 2 stress tokens.

Thx.

That's basically it. Whether or not you use Pattern Analyzer, you still end your activation with at least one stress if you fly over Debris.*

Here's the 4.4.1 FAQ, p20:

Quote

Pattern Analyzer

When a ship activates during the Activation phase and uses Pattern Analyzer, the "Check Pilot Stress" and "Clean Up" steps occur after the "Perform Action" step. Abilities that trigger after a ship executes a maneuver still occur after the "Clean Up" step.

If a ship uses Pattern Analyzer and then overlaps a debris cloud, the ship moves, resolves the "Perform Action" step, rolls for damage (from the debris cloud), resolves the "Check Pilot Stress" step, then receives 1 stress token (from the debris cloud).

* I had to asterisk this for completeness: Kanan Jarrus allows a ship which executes a white maneuver over debris to clear that stress, because the "after executing a maneuver" happens after the "clean up" step (so before the Perform Action step!), but I wanted to stick it at the bottom, since it's not really relevant to Pattern Analyzer. This, too, is specifically in the FAQ.

The part about abilities that trigger after completing a maneuver can be important to. The big one is snap shot. Since it triggers after a maneuver you still get your action before they can shoot. Had an opponent at my last regional get a bit salty when I flew my Poe right in front of his stressbot Ezra and I boosted out of arc before he could Snap Shot. Had to bring the TO over to confirm I was allowed to do that of course.
