Curious SoB questions

By Jonny WS, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

While playing the SoB campaign earlier this evening, I was looking at the map, and the plot that the Overlord took. I don't have the cards in front of me, but the one plot card that says that Dallak is raised made me question something....

In the event where that card is played and the heroes have Dallak set as their home port...and are unable to reach another city for several weeks to declare a new Home port, what happens?

Specifically, if the heroes are have a total party kill during an outdoor encounter...where would they go?

In addition to this, how do heroes mark on the campaign sheet which city is their home port, and how much damage the Revenge has taken?

1. Specifically, if the heroes are have a total party kill during an outdoor encounter...where would they go?

2. In addition to this, how do heroes mark on the campaign sheet which city is their home port, and how much damage the Revenge has taken?

1. Or flee a dungeon without completing it... ? Or any other city is razed by the OL while it is the home port?
My best guess would be that the original starting city (Gafford?) could be the 'default' home port. However that could be the city that has been razed...
there is no indication or clue or implication anywhere that I can find, so it is a case of make your own rule up - random choice from those remaining unrazed is literally as good as any other method...

2. In the margins?

SoB has not just maintained FFG's record for quality writing and thorough testing within Descent, but the more I play and the more I read, the more I think they have possibly moved the bar to new record levels.

Note: I did not say raised the bar.

Yes, I do agree that the bar has slipped with Descent in terms of quality testing....Maybe this is a question that I could address to them directly. However, I seem to not be getting answers when I submit them :(

For now, We are just writing the Home Port in the vault section of the current city. And if a situation comes up where the home port is razed...then, maybe just move it to the closest city that is still available. Ties being broken by a roll of the power die.

I think this was basically covered in this thread ( http://www.geekdo.com/thread/506341/home-port-destroyed- ) on Boardgamegeek.

Hmm, I looked at the thread, no clear answer IMO.

Until an official answer is available, I might just rule it that should the Home Port city be razed, the HP token remains in the location and all buildings are closed but heroes still appear at the temple....as per the rule while in the Overlords keep.

Just because a city is Razed, doesnt mean it's completely gone and blown away (that is, unless the Overlord has the "Death Star" Lieutenant).

The buildings are still there, and the home port is still there, they're just worthless for providing services.

Short Answer: The heroes go back to their home port, and suffer the indignity of knowing that their home port sucks because the overlord made it worthless.

I believe Fizz's answer is correct, the heroes simply return to the port but are unable to use anything there (and will probably want to pick a new one soon). Also can Dallak be made a home port? I thought the city had to have a shipyard but I may be making that up. Finally, I believe the rulebook states in the area about packing the game up to put the Revenge's wounds in the Overlord box to track them between games.

I see the rule about recording the Revenge's wounds, I remember reading it now when I first read the rule book...but after many campaigns in RtL, I didn't think to read that part of the SoB rule book again to look for an answer....my bad.

I agree too. There is no need to change the home port.

I even read that thread on BGG and agreed, just forgot about it. sonrojado.gif
