AT-RT Tactics

Note that, with the revised cover rules, the ATRT has to actually hide from sight some part of the trooper model/base for it to count as obscured. With the spindly little legs getting this on the majority of your squad is not a trivial task, unless you are close enough to be shadowed by the base.

When used as cover, vehicles create a cylindrical area that blocks LOS, with the area being the base of the mini and the height being the top of the model - the model's legs don't matter at all. As far as LOS rules are concerned, you're basically just pushing soda bottles around the table.

have you found other strategies that work?

Scatter your enemies like grains of wheat in the threshing yard. Bring to them their hour of judgement. See them flee as cattle from thunder.

Call me old fashioned but that's the strategy I use.

I am an Imperial player, but the two times I played as the Rebs I ran 3 AT-RTs. 2 with flame and 1 with rotary. I thought the flame ones were great. By round 2 you can get within range to put out some sick damage onto enemy trooper units. Flame ATs are more "scary" to the opponent in my experience. This will cause the enemy to try to focus down on them while the troops behind can move up freely. With my play style I don't really like the laser cannon on the chicken walkers. Not enough damage to troops. I see the purpose for them against enemy armor, but I'd prefer troop killers. Especially since the meta and objectives right now force you to run lists that spam troops. If we see more tanks in the future I'm sure the laser cannon will only be more of an auto include for the Rebs.

Problem is getting the flames in range.

Even the rotary is close enough for the masses of Impact to just shred them.
Perhaps once RG is a thing and we have more melee units to worry about the flamer might be valid. Right now it just gets rocket-foddered to death.

The rider is actually pretty good at shooting speeder bikes, as long as it can aim.

Yep, that's true now! It wasn't when I made the comment though.

It's a good change, I like it, *much* easier to play.

See, almost no one where I play runs Rocket Launchers, thanks be to Yoda.

Well even the DLTs put the hurt on (i always forget what that stupid sniper-thingy is actually called).

Or Vadersabers, since he can throw it fairly far too.

Im just baffled at how easy Armored targets go down. Technically the speeders take longer to kill imo because of innate cover1 and their speed can make them bolt out of range/behind a wall easy, but they dont have armored!
