2018 Store Championships

Since @MajorJuggler hasn't made the thread yet, I figured someone should.

This thread is to discuss results and anything related to the 2018 X-wing Store Championship Events, which run from June 2018 through August 26, 2018.

If you have any useful links that can be added to the list below, post here and I will add them!

Last week (July 1st) was Houston's first store championship of the year.

Listjuggler

Won by Wayne Basta flying 4 crackshot zealots and an inspiring AP-5.

Runner up: Gerry "2 Scoops" Russell with a double reaper Inqi build.

Top 4:

Chris 'Best hwk player at worlds' Schafer with a variant of his FSR list (popularized by Gerry last year at Worlds)

Justice 'all aboard the jank train' Buras with a norra, fenn, and a thicc keyan farlander.

Any idea on those upgrades for Gerry’s list? Link doesn’t have them either.

@Tbetts94 , didn't look too closely but it was standard Inq. Palp on Feroph, and a Krennic Vermeil.

I also TO'd a Store Championship at DCP Hobbies in Longview, WA last night. 12 players, 3 rounds of swiss only, and a relaxed atmosphere. Ran it on tabletop.to and list juggler is here:

Michael Hurd second with Reaper/Backdraft/Quickdraw

15 Players, 4 rounds with top 4 cut.

1st: Nate B (1st Swiss) - Miranda w/Rey, TLT, Bomblet; 3x Rookie Pilot with FAA, IA, Renegade Refit, Sfoils.

2d: Matt C (3d Swiss) - RAC w/ Palp. Kylo, VI, Engine Upgrade & Quickdraw w/Title, Harpoon Missiles, Guidance Chips, FCS, VI

Lost to 1st: Glenn D (4th Swiss) - Luke Skywalker w/R2D2, Vi, IA, RR, Sfoils; Hobbie w/Targeting Astromech, IA, RR, Sfoils; Ezra w/R3-A2, Snap Shot, Hera; Cavern Angels Zealot w/Snap Shot, FAA, IA, RR, Sfoils

Lost to 2d: Andrew S (2d Swiss): Edrio Two Tubes; Benthic Two Tubes; Wedge Antilles; Cavern Angels Zealot (did not get upgrade list)

Nine X-wings in the top 4 isn't a bad thing ...

Carolina Comics in Lawton, OK won by Nym Miranda with LRS, TS, Protons, Harpoon, TLT. I don’t have the exact lists.

2nd- Rey w/Finn and Miranda

3,4 Nym/Ten with Trajectory simulators and a Rey/Chopper list.

Store champs in wisconsin today, maybe 10 people or so. Many of whom were sober.

The FLGS I was the TO for ran theirs yesterday, 8 people showed up , including one visitor (down from 23 with 5 visitors and more the year before).

The visitor took it home with Rey Lowhrick in a sea of wave 14 stuff.

My son and I missed our first tournament at that FLGS in nearly 2 years... It felt really odd not to go. The good news is that he's no longer angry about 2.0 and has played 1 or 2 games in the last month.

Had our measly 2 Store Champs in Queensland, Australia (**grumble grumble** Stupid supplier... **grumble grumble**) these past two weeks. 24 and 22 players, Top 4 cuts at both.

First was taken out by Nym + Specialist + Ezra, beating out Nymiranda in the final. The Nymiranda player drew exactly 5 cards from his damage deck before conceding: PS0 on Nym & Blinded on Miri on the first round of shooting, 2 Direct Hits on Nym the following round, and finally one more Direct on Miri a couple rounds later.

Top 4 was rounded out by Nym + Asajj and Vermeil (Krennic) + Feroph + Sabacc.

Second was taken by Vermeil + Inquisitor + Yorr (Palp), beating Miri + Lowie + Ezra. The power of Bomblet almost carried, but jam and OP-OP were too much. The shuttle taking no damage from 2 rounds of TLT fire, and Lowie and Ezra both taking crits from debris may also have had some impact.

Top 4 here included Nym + Torani + Jostero and Ketsu + Bossk.

The way I phrased it was that I was running 60% fun and 40% cancer. Hawk strike was running only 22% cancer.

The final round of the final match came down to my Miranda with one hit point and his RACLo with one hit point. My only chance was to get him with a bomblet and for him to roll two hits. I gambled and Matt naturally used Palpatine for a blank, but sadly rolled hit crit.

Great game and fun tournament.

Petrie's - Won by Asa Graf flying his "crack dealers" list of 2x crackshot FAA Cavern Angels, 2x Snapshot crackshot A-Wings, AP5 with Operations Specialist (19 players)
Haunted Games - Asa again with his list above (9 players)
Enchanted Grounds - Duhtch Cuthbert with his NymRanda with thermals and proton bombs (19 players)
Inconceivable - Jeff Pollmiller with QD (no missles), Vermeil with ISB Slicers, RHO with PTL, Advanced slam, Harpoons (~18 players)

We have another one coming up this weekend at Subspace Comics in Lynnwood. This is their first SC. I will see if they can provide a listjuggler entry after the event.

Today, Store Championship Heidelberg 07.21.2018

4 games, no cut. Winner after 4 games. 16 participants.

Winner (me) with: Darth Vader (VI,Harp.,GC,Title,ATC), Quickdraw (VI,FCS,Harp.,GC,Title) and Double Edge (LW,LWF,TLT).

Second Place: Vermeil, Feroph and Vader. Did not check the exact upgrades (did not play the guy). Just saw that he had Krennic and Kallus. Sorry for not being helpful

Third place: Classical Nymranda

The first list I played against was Quickdraw with 2 Silencers (the player opted for ADv. Sensors instead FCS). Was really interessting to see all their moves and COMPLETE open dial. Scary. But lacking fire power. Lost Vader and Quickdraw. Double Edge saved the day. Win 100:71

Second List was Poe (PS8 version, Title, BB8, AT, Adv.Op.,... ) Luke Skywalker (IA,FAA, Title,...) and a Resistance Bomber (Bomblet, Traj.Simulator, Plating). Forgot some of the Upgrades. He lost the Resistance Bomber in shooting round 2. Doubleedge skirtet the outside of the battlefield and pumped TLT in the helpless X-Wings while Vader and QD engaged them in close dogfights. Quickdraw died, Vader and Double Edge killed everything. Win 100:35

Had to play Nymranda 2 times today ( - was lucky for me because my list is exactly designed to deal with their bull). One version was with LRS instead of GC. First game went to time. I won (Miranda had 1 hull left, I did not manage to kill her off). Second game was win100:0

That being said... I found it kind of sad that the first time I win actually a Store Championship it seems the first time they don´t do winner plaque. Last year the best result I achieved was second (and in the year before that too). Really hoped I would win something that I actually can show on my wall. All the rulers and cards are nice... but they will vanish in my game box never to be seen again. :(
