Couple of things I cant seem to get clarity on:

Can Krennic optimize his own Reaper--is his Reaper a friendly ship at range 1-2?

And does the optimized ship need a targeting computer in order to get a target lock on the defender?

A ship is friendly to itself and the Opt. Prot. does not specify "another friendly" ship. A Reaper has a shield value that meets the condition for being an optimized prototype. So I'd say yes Krennic can make his own Reaper OP. ?

On page 3 of the Rules Reference there is an extensive discussion of acquiring a target locks. Ships that do not have the target lock action may acquire locks granted by other game effects. So targeting computer not required. And again ships are friendly to themselves.

As a matter of general principle upgrades included in an expansion typically "work" on the ship in the expansion.
