OverClocked Trajectory Simulator Scum Card Idea

By Boba Rick, in X-Wing

I know, it's probably a bad idea...

But what about a DIAL that you can assign to your DEVICE BOMB! I mean, that sounds really cool. You have a separate dial that you set by your ship FOR THE BOMB! Maybe the dial only has like six moves, three of them are out the front and three of them are out the back.

Yeah.

Bad idea? Please be nice.

Maybe weird things like a torpedo with a built-in AI could have this.

I think TS is already a pretty serious NPE. Its the card I am most surprised survived into 2e.

Don’t make it worse, lol.

its not that big a deal when it happens before anybody moves though.

It was only NPE because of high PS bomblaunching

Yeah, dropping/launching bombs in the system phase prior to activation makes a huge difference on how TS plays out.

We kinda sorta got this in Lando's falcon's detatchable thinger

Yeah i saw that and went "wat?"

Its a "living bomb" basically, since it doesnt ignore friendly ships. Admittedly i misread it the first time and thought it did the damage each turn though lol

Im not sure if anyone would even use it. That could bite you very easily, especially if tractors are around.

Actually, that sounds like exactly the sort of trickery that I enjoy playing. I don't know how competitive it will be, but it could be quite fun, casually.

It could see use, simply because it may be the cheapest of the escape craft, and with the title that's a 2 shield upgrade into launching a ticking time-bomb. Remains to see how expensive that is, though.

The basic premise of using a dial to place a bomb or some other devise seems kind of interesting. I think it makes more sense in 1e than 2e, however. With a dedicated device phase and all bombs being placed before you know where ships are going, there's not much of an effect to base the bomb drop on a dial. Simply allowing a ship to pick and place the bomb in the Device phase would probably work.

In 1e, if you had to dial in your bomb launch before you see where your opponent's ships land, that's pretty cool. You'd have to dial-in your bomb drop before you see where your opponent's ships go, so that breaks up the "perfect information" of high-PS bombers. For example, if Nym had to dial-in his bomblet drop at the same time as setting his dial, you get to put bombs in unexpected places, but if your opponent out-guesses you, your bombs wiff.

That is to say, it's a better idea than how 1e's Trajectory Simulator worked, but seems kind of irrelevant in 2e.

Didn't they already make that for the Scum faction? I believe they called it "Fenn Rau."

Somebody set us up the bomb ... it leads to a Tragedy Simulator .
