Favorite Armies

List your favorite armies of 8 units here:

Elves:

4 archers(take hits, inflict light damage early on)

4 warriors(finnish of enemies, inflict heavy damage)

This army is very good at killing people, you will take heavy casulties however.

Undead:

3 skeleton archers (take hits, can kill some units)

3 necromancers (give you more guys so you win the battle)

2 death knights (you should still have 3 unique units at this point, there job is to rout enemies)

this army wins battles, killing is irelevent becouse at the end they have 2 standing units and you have 10

3 demon lords, 3 dragons and 2 giants... it's kick ass... i dont even remember what the demon does.. routs? I dunno, it has never had a special attack trigger in any of my 20+ games.. but I guess I need some to keep my neutrals in line.

ROAR!

Chaos Lord's have the ability to rout units OR destroy an already-routed unit. Pretty nasty when it comes down to it! (I think the way it's worded, you can't rout a unit and immediately destroy it, though, but I'd have to double-check.)

the elves when your are surronded by mountains an have pegasi out......

while impressive, how easy is it to get 3 dragons or 2 giants ley alone both. I'm talking practical armies, any one can sya they like the 8 best units in the game stuck together.

oh well then, how bout just 7 necromancers and one death knight to soak up some wounds... that will win most battles, since you will get a ton of reanimates, and you shouldnt lose too many necromancers to first initiative round units.

this thread sorta gyps the humans, since the knight is an awesome unit, but those tactics cards arent available during this battle.

You couldn't use the newly-drawn Tactics cards during the battle anyway, though.

I've played at least ten games now and it seems to me that elves (focusing in wood and food) and undead (focusing in wood and ore) are unstopable, any one have any counter elf/undead strategies.

i would recommend the humans or chaos, as, in my experience, they have just as much a chance of winning as undead and elves, and no one seems unstoppable at all.

Havent noticed any strength imbalance yet, and Ive played a lot.

personally, the only advantage any side has is the demons and undead are more fun to play than the elves, cuz they get all those tricksy tactics cards. Winning influence bids is nice, but not particularly fun. Using tactics cards to surprise take over an enemy strongold in the fall, followed by a pillage of 2-3 of their food and horrific rumors/ blackmail to keep them from taking it back while you repair/develop it is way too much fun... even though it wont necessarily get you a dragon rune.
