Is is too soon to say that "Bansai Garden" enables Crane honor victory condition ?

I've been thinking about Bansai Garden + Seeker of Knowledge.

Which leads me to a Crane with Support of the Phoenix Roles.

Clarity of Purpose in Crane (GOD YES !)

2x Display of Power so that people can't steal you the Air Ring.

Kudaka that triples dip with Seeker of Knowledge and Bansai Garden.

Provinces contains Elemental Fury to switch a ring for the Air Ring. Before the Throne to steal an extra 2 honor.

Is that enough. Is it viable enough so that I can get rid of Seeker of Air's 2 extra fate that are huge ?

Before the Throne is just going to get famed, better to run another air province and get either card draw or fate for it.

Good point.

The hardest thing is to choose the RL card. Against the Wave is a strong card but I don't play THAT many shugenja... Policy Debate maybe ? when your opponent figures out he needs to always bid 1, making him discard cards is more usefull.

Being one of the few clans that can actually run Policy debate I think you'd be silly not to be running it still. As you said you don't have enough impact Shugenja in Crane where getting an extra turn out of them will make that big a deal, and the odds of your opponent playing one is also low in most match ups. So for the cost of your restricted slot and the influence it takes from other cards that will help your victory condition more I'd say Stands is a pass.

I think you still need the Cautious scout and at least 1-2 Hotaru's. Walking into the wrong province can wreck decks (especially ones that are looking to only farm rather than break) so his ability can be key to keep you in a game. And her double air activation can really put you over the top for that honor victory.

Yeah I just realized that it's still not a Shugenja deck but an Honor Deck. So I might play enough Shugy to use Cloud the Mind and maybe I'm gonna try the new Mirror as a one-off because I'm not convinced. I'll also play the usuall Crane's Courtier bundle.

Kudaka x3 for sure. Fû Su Disciple most probably. Seeker of Knowledge brings me to 9 shugenja which is already probably enough. Might play a Storyteller or two because he his a courtier and a shugenja even if his text box sucks.

Seeker Role only.

I'm using Support of the Phoenix. It's probably honest to try to make it as a Seeker of Air to and check which one is the best one.

Thing with Display of Power is, it only triggers on losing unopposed, so you're losing an honor from that conflict, unless you play the Ikebana Artisan. Not sure there's enough Phoenix splash to make it worth running Support of Phoenix role over your current role.

For RL card I would agree that Policy Debate is likely your best option. If you decided to run Kakita Blade and Game of Sadane, that's extra POL duels you can run and gain honor from the blade.

I was planning on 3 x Clarity of Purpose, 3 x Seeker of Knowledge and 2 x Display of power. I see your point and it's a good point, but claiming the Air also combo with Kudaka and Fû Sui Disciple not counting on the fact that my opponent would steal me 1 more honor so instead of loosing 2 honor I'd gain 1 from it (3 honor difference is huge). So maybe a 1 x Display is still interesting, and I could play something like Magnificent Kimono or Kataro

She was a tough cut to go down to 2 but I needed to cut something to get to 40 and felt the other 3 of's were more important.

I don't like much Shigeru. With Takako I fear there's too much "-" MIL characters and he usualy gets played around. So I dropped him and bumb Asami to a 3 of and added an Academy but it's pretty much copy-paste beside that.

Asami is much better than Shigeru, especially if you are pushing an Honor victory.

1x Way of the Chrysanthemum? I feel with all the duel mechanics you might get mileage out of it. even at 2-3 honor this could be worth.

I don't think it's that srong because you're opponent will figure out quite quickly that he needs to pretty much bid 1 on everything. I don't want to make a gotcha deck but a viable deck even if they know I'm going strong on Honor.

I'll try using 1 and see if there's much situation where I'd like to have it in hand.

Yeah its a tough call. My version I keep wanting to add some Tests of Skill, but that just bloats it even more

Shigeru is a control card though. Once you have their honor down and are both in a bid 1 race his ability to stop my opponent from playing cards is more valuable than the third Asami in my opinion.
