Sorry if this has been answered, but I can't seem to find this information. It seems that wave 1 is in the conversion kits, but what about future ship packs for wave 2 and beyond? Are those packs going to have cards that aren't in the conversion kits? If so, why would I purchase a conversion kit? I'm confused. Please advise.

Conversion kits will let you play 1.0 ships in 2.0 without having to buy your whole collection again. FFG has stated that there will be a way for veteran players to get any new pilots/upgrades included in re-released 2.0 expansions without having to buy the whole expansion (most likely a cardboard/card upgrade booster).

Yes they have clearly said that packs with no plastic will be sold with each wave that is released. It may be a pack per wave or a pack per ship released, we don’t know that yet. These packs should contain the cards and cardboard from each full pack.
