2.0 Reinforce and Evade Timing

By GILLIES291, in X-Wing Rules Questions

So with the new reinforce rules reducing damage by one to a minimum of one, say you are hit by two damage and roll one evade. Can you reduce the damage to one and then spend the evade to take no damage? Or do you have to spend your evade first and then can't Reinforce reduce below the one damage?

Reinforce in 2.0 is after all dice modification, so anything like Evades would have already needed to have been used.

Ah got you figured it was to good to be true. So there's no real benefit to giving a Ship like the Ghost an Evade token.

Also note that evades in 2e only change die results, they don't add them, so you can't spend the evade if you've already rolled on, nor if you have no dice.

In 1.0, yes... that mitigates one incoming damage result by ADDING an evade result.

In 2.0, though... you're correct, it does virtually nothing (unless you expect the Ghost to be shot this turn, in a long-range or obstructed scenario)

Thanks and I was looking at the new Y-wing pilot Evaan Verlaine that increases agility of a nearby ship at range 0-1 and could boost the Ghost up to 1 agility with Reinforce. That combined with Jyn crew I thought could make the Ghost fairly tanky but I guess it's only alright against 3+ red die attacks.
