Yeah, I'm pretty happy about Armada myself. Just got done immortalizing my current collection with acrylic too.
I'll be playing Armada for YEARS to come. No matter the level of support FFG provides.
Love this game
Thanks, @Darth Sanguis . I love pics like these. Makes me feel better to know that other people have the same addiction of buying ships and having extremely large Imperial AND Rebel fleets. Please add two more pics for your Imp/Reb squadrons.

While I understand the problems that would cause for store and tournament play I suspect that there are a fair amount of folks like myself that would still go on to play this wonderful game indefinitely and don’t need tournament play to have fun with it.
Of course, I wouldn’t look forward to it but if they announced that Armada was dead tomorrow it wouldn’t bother me a bit. Nobody can take the ships I have away, the rules and balance are in a great place and having nearly every ship in my collection, I can come up with fleet combos that will stay fresh for years to come.
In fact, I would see it as a blessing that the game never got to X-Wing status with its power creep, 2.0 conversion kits and too many ugly fan-fiction Expanded Universe ships that do nothing to immerse me in the Star Wars universe. From what I understand, you can’t realistically field an x-wing...in X-Wing. Crazy.
It would be like Carcassone or Catan to me - I pull it off the shelf, have a great time with it and revel how fortunate I was to discover one of the greatest tabletop games ever made.
Viva Armada!
Amen
I have no concerns for the state of people playing armada. The community is strong. I unfortunatelydo not have time for much play. Just moved from renting a house from my rents to an apartment. No 4' by 8' table in the basement anymore to play when ever I want. And no armada players at the local game store so I haven't played in way to long. I really enjoy the new ships and I agree that 1 well thought out 2-4 ship expansion every year is better that a ton of crap that ruins the playabity of older ships. Armada is nowhere near dead I am however wondering if FFG is going to stop producing expansions. No news in 6 months is strange.
well, when I look how GW bailed on Battlefleet gothic and then it did perfectly fine after...wait.
it's cool you'll still be able to play, that you don't understand that the community for the games (everyone that isn't you and your son) will move on to other game systems is a bit rough to take.

There’s s couple of old timers who gone into the GW Chinook store every odd month or so and either play Epic or Gothic on the tables, as they are technically allowed to...
... i was also a member of a project to make Gothic work under the Armada system in its early days...
Communities rarely remain the same, but that being said, in this connected day and age, they rarely truly DIE for those who believe ?

I wonder when the last 40+ person BFG tournament was.

Read the first paragraph of my post. I do understand. Not all of us need a community. It’s nice but not required.

Irrelevant.
GW never ran them for it even when it was popular.

Ugh, I can't really argue anything around BFG as i was only 13ish in its hayday and didn't even get into 40k until i was 17(it was my first wargame).
My point is FFG has ruined my life between this and Dark Heresy 2nd Ed. dying;)

How much can FFG be blamed for its GW license going, though?

This is such an interesting point. I found myself thinking about this the other day when I discovered a Zoids buy/sell/trade fan group on facebook with hundreds of members. I mean, the kits we're all selling were discontinued in like the early 2000s yet these fans of the series all have cared for collections, even new in box kits.
If you're passionate about something, there's a good chance others will be too.... just need to find them is all.
I think the same thing will apply to Armada even if they stop support a few years from now. (That's if we don't get a 2.0 too).
