Can droids fire focus missiles?

By Ravenhull, in X-Wing

Proton and Barrage rockets require being focused to use, but droids (other than Guri sometimes) can’t focus. Will they be able to use calculate instead?

Unless there is a 2e rule that allows for it, I'd say nope!

It really doesn't look like it.

That said, I don’t think any can currently equip the barrage missiles. I am hoping this will be in the rule book.

Ancient scrolls tell us of the weakness of droids to ions. Discharging a proton rocket surely would ionize the firing ship (losing protons means you've become a negative ion of a lower element). Droids fear this vulnerability, for it is deep in their programming. Except for, like Guri and you know, those with Perceptive Copilot friends. It all adds up. This ground has been covered. It is known.

Or it could just be something that they overlooked or forgot about. ;)

We need a missile/torp that spends an evade token .How about an [ATTACK: Evade] secondary weapon FFG :P

This. I doubt very much we'll see droid pilots with the missile slot, for exactly this reason.

You might well see them if they ever do the CIS/Republic...but yes. A calculate token is not a focus token. So you cannot use Attack [Focus] as an option.

An upgrade with a prerequisite of [Calculate] which allows you to treat Attack [Focus] as Attack [Calculate] is not unreasonable, though.

Assuming the 2400 still has missile, true.

Would be interesting to see some sort of smart missile system that requires a calculate to use. 'Oh yes I'm manually controlling that whole swarm of missiles, while also flying the ship. It's easy for a droid.'

Interesting idea
