3D Printing Sickness

By DangerShine Designs, in Star Wars: Legion

Anyone else unable to look at failed 3D prints and think "oooh - Legion scenery!"

Exhibit A: A toothpaste tube wringer that I accidentally printed as one object and not as component pieces. but tell me that wouldn't look awesome as a, y'know, a something. Somewhere.

It's a sickness, I tell ya.

Someone missed a therapy session :)

I think that is less failed, and more "succeeded differently than intended." ?

Yes. Stupid Legion has me seeing Star Wars scenery everywhere now. It's bad. Back in the day I was like this with WEG Star Wars. I hoarded any kind of unusual bottle caps, packing materials... I'm back at it. Everything looks like something from Star Wars again. "This disposable razor looks just like the landing gear for an Imperial shuttle, I should save two."

Well, one would be weird ;)

also in this same situation, keeping all inserts and stuff i can find. I am going to have enough to put about 75% terrain onto at least 3 different flavored boards.

BUT I'M NOT STOPPING AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME.

Edit: But my wife can, and might ;)

Well, the Jedi communicators in Episode I were modified ladyshaves. So you are up there with the best of them!

That's clearly a power converter you picked up from Tosche Station.

Wife: "How did shopping go?"

Me: "Really well. I bought 5.5 lbs of hamburger so we can divide it out and freeze it so we have it on hand when we need it. I also grabbed a can of spray-paint so we can clearly mark the garbage can we use for yard waste per the city's guidelines."

Three days later:

Wife: "Why is that hamburger container sitting in the garage spray-painted silver?"

Me: "Uh, it makes a perfect bunker for my Legion games."

Wife: "Did you intentionally buy those things just so you could make more terrain?"

Me: "..."

Yes. But somehow I always experienced it most with Star Wars stuff. Now that a big SW battles game is out, it's back with a vengeance.

But yeah. At a playground with the kids, sifting out woodchips that would make good slate boulders is a real thing...

Heh. I somehow ended up with a handful of tiny pebbles in my pocket that surprisingly work well for basing accents the other day when I took my grandson to the park. ;)

A friend of mine printed a pod racer for a desert battlefield I made for our FLGS. The print didn't go quite right, but since it was supposed to be a wreck, it actually worked just fine.
